Software Engineer Intern- Scenario Simulation

In this role you will work with the Scenario Simulation team in enhancing the fidelity of PLUS’ in-house simulator, with a focus on reducing the gap between simulated and real-world behavior. This includes improving the robustness of log-replay simulations, enhancing log conversion methods, and implementing features such as warm-start for varied initial conditions. You will also contribute to synthetic scenario development, including features like intelligent traffic light control, construction zone creation, and realistic agent spawning for local and highway environments. The work will help improve simulation frameworks used to validate and deploy autonomous truck systems.


Responsibilities:
  • Gain familiarity with PLUS’ simulation architecture and tools.
  • Improve the robustness of log-replay features and enhance log-conversion methods.
  • Implement and test warm-start strategies for initial condition variations.
  • Develop smart agent spawning strategies at local and highway areas.


Required Skills:
  • Currently pursuing a Masters or Phd in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Python
  • Experience working with simulation systems or robotics platforms


Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with autonomous vehicle systems or driving stack simulation
  • Experience with synthetic scenario creation or log-based testing frameworks


$19 - $65 an hour
