Population Health Analyst

BCBSNE is happy to offer four work designations for our Omaha area employees: 100% in-office, Hybrid options, and 100% remote. If choosing to work remote, this role can be located in one of the following states: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Texas.

What you'll do:

  • Develops detailed project plans to monitor and track progress of clinical quality and population health initiatives, manages data collection, identifies appropriate sources, methods, and locations of data, determines best approach for report development. Coordinates verification of data and results.
  • Develops and writes moderately complex reports, analyses, and summaries related to analytic findings and improvement opportunities for clinical quality and PHM initiatives.
  • Identifies health care cost and utilization drivers related to the health care status and health risks of members with BCBSNE plans.
  • Investigates and mines data to discover areas of opportunity for improving health outcomes & closing member gaps in care. Works with cross-functional team members to assist in developing responses and action plans.
  • Assists the team to develop interventions to improve clinical quality performance metrics, including HEDIS and member satisfaction rates, PHM program outcome metrics, and streamline workflows, including reporting & analysis to identify gaps.
  • Able to understand business and investigate analytic requests from stakeholders to determine what data is needed for a project and presentation of the analysis to the group.

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, analytics, business or healthcare administration, or another relevant academic field.
  • Proficient utilizing Microsoft Office, Microsoft SQL Server, Power BI, Excel or other relevant data mining and reporting systems.
  • Three (3) years of healthcare data analytics experience, including working experience in analysis of results of projects to improve business performance or quality of health care or service.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to analyze, develop, and document business requirements and translate those requirements into data processes to solve business issues or needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to document and explain processes accurately to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, proactive and able to work well under pressure.

The strongest candidates for this position will also possess:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, analytics, business or healthcare administration, or another relevant academic field.
  • Five (5) years of advanced analytics experience in a health care environment, including experience in analysis of results of projects to improve business performance or quality of health care or service.
  • Proficiency working within an environment that utilizes Agile and/or Project Management techniques.
  • Advanced experience with creating analytic models based on data trends, business program ROI, data Quality Analysis, etc.
  • Experience designing or building self-service content.
  • Proficiency of visualization best practices as well as proficiency with visualization tools such as Power BI and/or Tableau.
