Compensation Range: $25.50 - $30.50 per hour

As a Prep Cook, your primary responsibility is to support and assist other experienced Cooks and Chefs in preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a diverse range of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods such as Breakfast, Lunch, Grab 'N Go, and occasional Special/Catered Events. Alongside these duties, you will also be responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workstation and area. This includes tasks such as dishwashing, deep cleaning, and general equipment maintenance. Upholding high standards of cleanliness and sanitation is crucial, and Patagonia can provide assistance in obtaining a Food Handler's card. While some flexibility in hours is required for this role, punctuality and regular attendance on a daily basis are essential.

What You’ll Do

This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the associate occupying this position. Prep Cooks will be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor daily.
  • Assistance with food preparation or execution of menu items in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Execute garde-manger applications with supervision of higher-level cooks, such as dressings and chia pudding.
  • Set up and break down service (breakfast and/or lunch) including cleaning procedures and/or dishwashing if required.
  • Working knowledge of knife cuts such as julienne, dice, mince.
  • Basic allergen knowledge required and translated to labeling.
  • Ensure station / service is set on time with the appropriate amount of food and supplies for the projected business.
  • Must maintain a sense of urgency work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure all foods are stored properly to include wrapped, labeled, and dated with expiration dates.
  • Basic allergen knowledge required and translated to labeling.
  • Display work habits that promote accident prevention.
  • Work off Prep lists or verbal instructions for daily completion.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills as to ensure accuracy and follow through.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and well-organized work area.
  • Assist in receiving items and properly store in assigned location.
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers. Must exhibit strong teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements

To perform this job successfully, the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. Some requirements may exclude individuals who pose a direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of themselves, other associates, or guests.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly and carry for up to 50 feet.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Bending, lifting, and chopping repetitively throughout the day.
  • Ability to wash dishes for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a small physical space that can be loud at times.
