With our solutions implemented in over 800 cities across 48 states, we're positively impacting the lives of approximately 75 million people.

Backed by $27 million in Series B funding led by Andreessen Horowitz, we're scaling rapidly to become a core component of emergency calls nationwide, driving the future of emergency response toward a safer, more agile system.

Joining the Prepared team means more than just a new role. It's a chance to be at the forefront of impactful tech that significantly improves public safety and touches lives across the globe. At Prepared, you're not just part of a team; you're a key player in a larger mission to foster a safer, more interconnected world.

You will leverage the latest in audio processing, speech-to-text, and LLM technologies to build a product suite that monitors radio traffic, associates radio traffic with relevant 911 calls to provide insights into the end-to-end emergency response, and assists dispatchers in communicating effectively with and dispatching first responders. This represents one of the highest priority initiatives that Prepared is going to market with in 2025.

You will collaborate closely with your product, design, and go-to-market counterparts to align architectural vision and technical execution with Prepared’s business objectives, fostering an environment where innovation thrives, processes are efficient, and engineering excellence is the norm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Contributions: Actively participate in hands-on development, especially in backend systems, while guiding the team with technical expertise

  • Code Reviews and Mentorship: Conduct thorough code reviews to maintain high-quality standards while mentoring team members in best practices.

  • System Design: Lead the design and architecture of scalable backend systems and APIs, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement best practices, tools, and processes to drive technical excellence and team productivity.

What makes you a great fit:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role.

  • Excel at motivating teams, fostering growth, and building a sense of shared purpose as a people-centric leader.

  • Demonstrate a proven ability to manage engineering teams and deliver complex projects in high-growth environments.

  • Proven ability to balance leadership and technical contributions, excelling in roles requiring both hands-on coding and team management.

  • Possess proficiency in modern tech stacks, with experience in or willingness to learn React, Ruby on Rails, and Golang
