Job Description
The responsibility of the press helper is to follow the instructions of the assistant and operator to learn the proceeds to produce high quality printed materials, according to the daily production schedules and client specifications.
II.
Duties
-
Follows safe operating procedures and complies with all EHS and GPM guidelines to ensure that only the highest safety standard is maintained.

Performs tasks within acceptable limits for quality, quantity, sanitation and timeliness of completion, paying particular attention to prevent and eliminate costly errors.

Meets company’s attendance requirements, including timely reporting of absence and working overtime as requested
-
Checks and inspects material received from prior operations to verify accuracy and conformance to customer's specifications.

Prepares make-ready for upcoming jobs (such as speedwells, color standards, cylinders, color keys, trolley's, inks and doctor blades.

Stages material for upcoming jobs and takes raw material samples to lab for testing prior to production.

Checks and monitors viscosities regularly.
-
Orders raw materials and wets for upcoming jobs.
-
Hangs rolls of incoming material and prepares for splicing.
-
Learns basic machine operation.

Fills in for assistant as needed.

Maintains a neat and orderly work area in accordance to 5S standards, by cleaning spills and disposing of trash on a timely basis

Participate in on the job training and instruction to learn other job tasks.

Complies with company policies and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must possess strong working knowledge of printing process.

Must possess the ability to operate basic hand tools.

Strong communication skills and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.

Responsible for producing printed material in a safe, effective and profitable manner.
VI.
Physical Requirements
The position requires an employee to stand and walk for an extended period of time. Exposure to moderate noise levels and potentially hazardous materials. Must be able to lift a maximum of 55 lbs and must adhere to PPE and GMP requirements. Reasonable accommodations will be considered on a case by case situation.
