Job Summary
This position is responsible for setting up and maintaining the packaging areas safely and effectively.
Essential Functions/Duties and Responsibilities
To adhere to Pretzel’s GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices)
To maintain the Daily Cleaning Checklist SSOP compliance
Set up and maintain the packaging area safely and effectively
Communicate accordingly with supervisors, PMO’s and packers. Also communicate effectively with PC on previous or next shift.
Review line sheets for changeovers, special labels, chep pallets, etc.
Follow schedule priority according to line sheet
Understanding Epicor and use of job tracker
Communicate changeover status (pounds left or cases left) with Supervisor, PMO, Baker, and QC
Minimize and rework any overruns on shift. Communicate all overruns to Supervisor
Print off lead labels and first case verifications (provide to packers for each sku ran) and order all supplies needed for the job
Set up the job accordingly with boxes, labels, a scale, tape, and skids
Refill the Zebra printers with labels and ribbon as needed
Set up the tape machine
Load job into computer for Zebra printer and verify with lead label
Set up the bulk lines accordingly to lead label, color bags, boxes, etc
Bulk/Rework needs completed before shift end. If bulk is not completed by shift end PC will store and mark all WIP properly filling out the correct paperwork or WIP tickets and put into oven room. No WIP should be left in warehouse. PC should report all WIP/Rework to Supervisor before leaving.
Understand and follow WIP procedure
Assist quality with hold procedure as needed
Ensure no damaged cases leave packaging room assist with repack as needed
Pull finished product to the wrapper or to the warehouse staging area
Ensure all skids have correct LP
Wrap skids and place them in the holding area until they are license plated (No skids are to be taken out to the warehouse until they are plated)
Do not throw away license plates
Print license plates and apply accordingly (do not make license plates ahead of time)
Report any errors with LP’s immediately to your supervisor
Help other PC’s if your lines are down or as time permits
Keep all bags, boxes, bulk bags, and edible containers off the floor
Properly dispose of all scrap cardboard in the baler before the end of the shift
Continually work on housekeeping
Follow all safety rules and policies
Follow all general work rules and policies
Regular attendance
Able to follow directions as required by management
Complete all required trainings, including Alchemy, timely
All other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED preferred
1-month related experience or training
Required Skills/Abilities
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence
Ability to write simple correspondence
Proficiency of the English language.
Read, write, and speak Engligh
Ability to effectively present information to other employees of the organization
Basic skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and be able to pass math test
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

The employee must be able to lift with both hands and lift overhead with both hands. The employee must demonstrate good visual acuity and hand/eye coordination. Must be able to talk/communicate and hear.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Work environment conditions may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, side shields, steel toe or composite toe shoes, hearing protectors and hair nets.
