- Responsible Tailings Facility Engineer (RTFE) for eight tailings storage facilities (TSFs) managed by BHP Legacy Assets;
- Accountable for the integrity of the tailings facility, periodic design assessments, and for the implementation of design requirements;
- Liaising with EOR, TSF operations and planning teams and internal BHP representatives for regulatory affairs, social performance and environment;
- Management of the TSF specific change management system;
- Establishment and maintenance of the monitoring system and communication of the results to the EOR, including performance reviews;
- Responsible for the compilation and maintenance of the Construction Records Report;
- Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the OMS Manual and associated systems.
- Travel to various unanticipated sites throughout the United States required.

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil or Geological Engineering or a related field plus nine (9) years of work experience in the job offered or a Principal Geotechnical Engineer-related occupation. Position also requires demonstrable experience with each of the following:
1. Designing, planning, monitoring and auditing Tailings Storage Facilities and their reclamation in compliance with Codes of Practice;
2. Modeling and conducting geotechnical analysis and design on soil samples to improve inspections and civil mining methods and designs;
3. Developing operational water plans and water balances, directing drilling and water management activities, tracking operational performance and improving water related risk processes of mine operations;
4. Conducting and embedding water studies, research and risk assessments to optimize resource value;
5. Performing geological modelling based on integrated datasets to analyze and interpret target areas and generate valuable knowledge of the Tailings Storage Facilities.
6. Sourcing information, planning, and conducting analyses to support evidence based decision making.
