Our Global Supply Chain business unit has approximately 17,000 employees, working from 54 production sites in 19 countries. We supply hygiene products for our business areas Consumer Tissue (Toilet paper, Household towels, Handkerchiefs, Facial tissues, Wet wipes and Napkins), Professional Hygiene (TORK) and Personal Care (Incontinence Products, Feminine Care and Baby Care). The unit was formed on June 1, 2019 by merging the two entities Supply Chain Development and Global Manufacturing. Prior to 2019, the unit operated in two separate entities, known as GHS Tissue and GHS Personal Care.

About the Role

Essity Manufacturing Professional Hygiene North America is currently seeking a Process Engineer for our manufacturing facility in Menasha, WI.

What You Will Do

  • Maintains a process for daily water and effluent testing for Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP), maintains or can achieve a lab certification or license for all such testing;
  • Responsible for the identification, planning, and implementation of wastewater treatment and environmental process improvement initiatives, under the direction of the Utilities Resource Support Team Leader;
  • May prepare and help maintain reports for Essity’s internal use;
  • Will obtain and/or maintain current Wastewater Operators Certification;
  • Routinely completing and submitting required reports (annual, quarterly & monthly);
  • Updating plans and/or water process procedures as required by permits;
  • Continuous Education - Attending trade organization meetings in order to maintain network of environmental contacts and in order to stay abreast of changes in state and federal environmental regulations;
  • Supports and leads continuous improvement projects such as reductions in fresh water usage, Total Suspended Solids, Total Phosphorous and BOD discharge;
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) implementation across waste water treatment process to improve troubleshooting and decision making process;
  • Provide support to Utilities to help ensure continuous and efficient operations, uninterrupted service to Paper Mill and Deinking operations and to ensure environmental parameters are in compliance;
  • Lead and manage capital projects;
  • Demonstrates leadership in the prevention of pollution, compliance with applicable legal and other requirements, and continual improvement of environmental performance especially in the areas of recognized Environmental Significant Aspects and Essity’s established corporate sustainability goals;
  • Practice commitment to the philosophy that QRESH stewardship is everyone’s responsibility;
  • Leads the creation of training materials such as SOP’s, control strategies and supports implementation of CI within operator training and qualification;
  • Supports energy isolation processes and improvements (LOTO) along with other safety related activities in the WWTP and boiler house areas;
  • Leads and maintains a process control system such as centerlining across the department;
  • Routinely interacts with other production departments to support and build process improvement strategies.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Paper Science, Environmental, Biology, or other related engineering field preferred, or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum of 5 years of process engineering experience a strongly preferred;
  • Water treatment and related process experience preferred;
  • Project Management or Continuous Improvement methodologies experience preferred;
  • Skilled in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and Power Point;
  • Ability to lead teams through change and improvement;
  • Ability to work and communicate with outside resources: OEM representatives, vendors, contractors, service companies;
  • Problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
