What does the job entail?

1. Summary of Responsibilities:
Member of a team that is responsible for the origination, structuring and implementation of
syndicated loans for corporate clients in Latin America.

2. List Major/Essential Job Duties:
  • Implement BBVA’s marketing strategy for Corporate Lending in coordination with
the team’s head. This includes meeting with clients, design and coordinate the
elaboration of financing proposals, product presentations and analysis of the client’s
financials and of the global economic market conditions;
  • Lead the execution of syndicated loan transactions, including the preparation of
information material, legal and business negotiations, drafting of legal documents;
  • Coordinate and train junior members of the team on their daily responsibilities;
  • Coordination with Corporate Lending teams in Latin America, as well with different
internal areas (Risk, Legal, Finance, Operations) and other products (Syndications,
Credit, Rates, Corporate Finance)
  • Analysis of research material, including the quantitative and qualitative analysis of
client / industry / country;
  • Preparation of internal reports and processing internal data & tools required;
  • Use of Bloomberg, Loanware, LPC and other sources of information;
  • Evaluate and develop financial models and financial statement analysis.

3. Level of Complexity and Risk Involved:
High level of complexity. The team interacts with the main corporate clients of the BBVA
Group in Latin America.

The structuring of debt solutions must be tailor-made to the credit profile and targeted capital
structure of each client. The structure must efficiently mitigate the risks involved in the
transaction. In addition, such structure must be acceptable to the bank and/or other debt
holders. The main responsibility is to support in the design of financial solutions that fulfill
the client’s objectives while mitigating the corresponding risks associated to the transaction
(credit risk, sovereign risk, operation risk among others). The individual will also be
responsible for coordinating and ensuring that all internal processes are met to successfully
close transactions.

4. Scope of Duties:
  • Interaction with clients and prospects, including presentation of financial proposals,
negotiation of business and legal aspects of the transaction
  • Lead discussions and negotiations of terms and conditions as well as loan
documentation with legal firms, clients and other pier banks in the market
  • Lead the implementation of cross-border financing for the main corporate in Latin
America
  • Interaction within the BBVA Group, including BBVA’s local bank in the Latin
America region.
  • Coordination and guidance of junior members of the team
  • Understanding and development of financial modeling, financial statement analysis,
derivative instruments.
  • Oral and written presentation skills.
  • Monitoring of the credit process.
  • Responsible for internal processes required to successfully close transactions
5. Skills, knowledge, abilities/Competencies:
  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Economics or similar
  • Master Degree in Business, Economics or similar desired
  • At least 8 years of professional experience with preference in Investment Banking,
Corporate Finance, Banking or activities related to debt products/investments
  • Excellent English and Spanish skills
  • Understanding of the international financial markets;
  • Understanding of legal framework and business negotiation of the international loan
market
  • Leadership and personal skills
  • High energy individual and proactive personality
  • Team player to interact with colleagues in various groups the region
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Solid analytical skills
  • Experience in developing and negotiating financing documents
  • Experience in syndicated loans or similar desired

6. Management Responsibilities:
Management of junior members of the team as required by the head of the team

Legal requirements

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $165,000.00 - 220,000.00. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
