Who we are - The Product Management Center of Excellence team is responsible to champion and mature product management discipline through coaching, training & advising Product Managers across Fannie Mae.

We are a team of customer centric product managers, designers, strategists and business people reporting to the Chief Digital Officer. Our audience is Fannie Mae Product Managers who are responsible for assessing emerging trends in customer needs, technologies, potential partnerships and building digital products - that could transform the way we, and Fannie Mae’s customers, do business for the benefit of borrowers and renters across the United States.

he Product Management COE - Trainer & Advisor role will work closely with our product teams to help them accelerate the adoption and application of Product Management best practices, use of enterprise tools, and develop the soft skills critical to effective Product Management. The Product Consultant/Advisor will help product teams to build the ‘right things’ and help to get ‘things right’ with product management best practices, tools, and experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Influences and collaborates with product team and cross-functional enablement teams to create product strategies that drive significant change to the customer experience.
  • Develop product management training curriculum
  • Leverage product development skills including discovery, design thinking, hypothesis testing, prototyping, and iterative development to support other product managers
  • Help instill a comprehensive product management mindset and guide product managers to more effectively utilize and execute on the use of product management best practices, tools, resources, and skills to drive demonstrable and sustainable results for their products
  • Use advanced product management skills to:
    • Establish and communicate product vision and strategy for high complexity products and/or multiple products
    • Create and communicate product value and business case
    • Manage product features, prioritization, and creation of a product roadmap
    • Facilitate product prioritization decisions
  • Partner with technology and operational leadership on digital transformation and provide guidance/strategic assistance on shifting to or enhancing their product management practices in data, platforms and services.
  • Build strong partnerships by managing and engaging stakeholders, customers, and vendors, and building relationship networks and alliances.
  • Show ability to work across the organization with individuals having different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively while working towards a common goal
  • Consult with management to determine the needs of our customers to produce target business outcomes and results.
  • Provide report to track progress against business objectives to deliver results.

Provide guidance to team on collecting and analyzing data to formulate continuous improvement strategies.


Qualifications


THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Required Experiences

  • 6+ years of recent experience as a product manager working to define product strategies, roadmaps, and backlogs that led to the definition and delivery of impactful user experiences.
  • 2+ years serving as a trainer for product managers (or other analogous roles and/or contemporary methodologies, such as Agile, Lean Start Up, Design Thinking, etc.)
  • Practical understanding of product management methodologies, agile, lean thinking, and more
  • A team player with a collaborative working style and a willingness to contribute to all aspects of team's work product
  • Demonstrated ability to create an atmosphere of shared purpose and fosters an environment of creativity in solving business problems; and exhibits good business judgment in assessing which creative ideas/suggestions will work
  • Demonstrated record of influencing and managing relationships across various functions respectfully and cooperatively to drive towards a common goal
  • Experienced using product road mapping tools such as Craft.io, Aha, or others
  • Particularly skilled in presenting information and/or ideas to an audience in a way that is engaging and easy to understand
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Growth mindset & Executive presence

Desired Experiences (a plus, but not required)

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Experience creating training content and curriculum
  • Experience working with organizations that are new to product management principles and practices
  • Experience in financial services (FinTech, Mortgage industry)
  • Familiar with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) recommended structure, principles and practices
  • Experience in consulting and solution based professional services
  • Experience in platform and data products is a plus
