The Research and Development Sciences (RaDS) value team in our Company R&D IT brings together product management, engineering, and data science expertise to enable data and technology products and services that accelerate our scientists’ ability to discover and develop innovative medicines that change the course of human health. In the RaDS value team, the Product organization is responsible for implementing technology products and associated services to advance the drug discovery and development pipeline.

The role will lead automation of movement of raw data from instruments through to a system of record. The role offers the chance to execute a strategy for supporting the digital transformation of our scientific tools.

You will possess a blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision with the ability to dive into the weeds, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You will be able to comprehend scientific problems and translate those needs for the technical team while prioritizing tasks to ensure the ongoing enhancement of solutions.

You will be able to identify with our scientists' needs and be a passionate advocate for their perspectives.

The position will be based in North America, travel to other sites may be necessary at times, potentially globally, estimated no more than 15% of the time.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Understanding the problem space and specifying requirements for current and future products through close partnership with our company's scientists and other stakeholders

  • Create and execute on strategy to manage solutions to fully automate the movement of raw data from instruments through to a system of record for instrument types

  • Automation of Lab instrument data and device data to minimize scientist’s manual movement of data

  • Organize/Introduce Data Lifecycle Management of the data using automated best in practice solutions

  • Driving adoption and change management planning

Qualifications

Education Minimum:

  • B.A./B.S. or Advanced degree equivalent in Computer Science or a relevant technical or scientific discipline (such as life sciences, informatics, genomics, statistics/biostatistics). Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.

Prerequisites

  • 7-10 years experience with developing and executing on big data strategy (migration to cloud or new provider)

  • 7-10 years experience of data movement/management problems across the enterprise with regards to size, volume, and velocity

  • Experience working with high content imaging

  • Strategic thinking mindset

  • Worked in a Product related role

  • Worked in an Agile development team

  • A dedication to appreciating complex problems and tackling a diversity of subject matter with a creative mind and imaginative strategies

  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong, trust based, collaborative relationships to drive change within all levels of a large, diverse organization

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work based on user need, business value, and return on investment

  • Ability to quickly grasp new technological and scientific concepts and convey their value to clients and collaborators

  • Has redesigned and improved internal business processes

  • Experience in applying change management concepts in a cross functional group

  • Ability to function in a geographically distributed, culturally diverse environment with both internal and external employees

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and users

  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary team and operate effectively in a matrix environment as a team player, yet able to work independently

Preferred

  • Ability to work collaboratively with vendors to address business problems

  • Familiarity with user centered design and UX principles

  • Pragmatic Institute Certification

  • Familiarity with Cloud based software and terms

  • Comprehension of laboratory processes and methods

  • Comprehension of the Product Life Cycle of software products

  • DevOps experience
