About the role
The product team at Morning Brew consists of product management, engineering, and product design. We are a group of thoughtful individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment, have a bias to action, strive to learn from each other, and level up ourselves and our teammates every day. We are a lean team within a growing organization, which means that each person is empowered with a large area of ownership and is expected to flex to help the team when emerging opportunities arise. The three pillars of product collaborate closely in pods, working to build and ship products in an agile fashion (though we are hardly purists!). We set lofty but attainable goals, and expect the highest quality of work from ourselves and each other.
Morning Brew is looking for a Product Manager, Internal Tools, and Ads to manage the roadmap, execution, and training for our Content Management System (CMS) and custom ad-serving tool for content creators. We’re looking for a self-starter who is passionate about creating efficient internal experiences for teams and collaborating with others to create those experiences. Product Managers at Morning Brew oversee planning and execution throughout the product life cycle, including gathering and prioritizing product requirements, creating detailed roadmaps, and working closely with engineering, product design, analytics, sales, growth, and editorial to ensure user experience and business goals are met. This role also includes ensuring that the product supports the company’s overall strategy. This role sits within Product and reports to the Director of Product Management.
What you'll do:
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Editorial, Branded Partnerships, RevOps, Morning Brew Creative Studio, and Growth to develop and release features focused on improving the efficiency and usability of our internal tools and ad creation and distribution platforms.
- Own the backlog and roadmap for our internal tools and ad creation experience, ensuring strategic priorities and goals are updated and made visible, and work with Engineering and Product Design to assess and choose appropriate features and integrations to achieve those goals.
- Create user journey and workflow maps to conceptualize solutions and automations, driving efficiency and reducing manual work for internal teams.
- Partner with Editorial Operations to assist with investigating urgent bug issues, as well as ideas and structure for the roll-out of new sponsored content and branded products and features.
- Facilitate meetings and workshops that drive collaboration, prioritization, and maximize impact, through focused discussion and decision-making.
- Create product documentation and guidance materials for staff and assist with training sessions for the release of new features and platforms.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert of internal tooling with Product Managers for our audience-facing digital experiences such as our website and newsletters.
- Partner with Engineering to ensure the integrity of customer data and platform security and ensure excellent execution.
About you
- 3+ years of experience in product management, preferably working with platforms and internal tools such as CMS’s and/or CRMs. AdOps experience is also a plus.
- Experience working at a media or content-centric company: understanding what editorial, revenue, and brand partnership teams do is key!
- Deeply collaborative and extremely well-organized with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Action-oriented and excited to join a fast-growing company.
- Knowing how to code is not a requirement, but through education or experience, you have the ability to work closely with engineers to evaluate different approaches to implementing product features, weighing tradeoffs, and other priorities effectively.
What else are we looking for?
Character and integrity rank pretty high on the list. Our team is guided by our core values:
- Curious - We strive to learn every day through constant questioning and exploration.
- Purposeful – We do everything with the highest level of thoughtfulness, preparation and focus.
- Empathetic - We are good, genuine people who embrace others' perspectives.
- Challengers - We approach every day with an underdog mentality and are never complacent.
Perks
While being surrounded by a bunch of cool people who look great in crewnecks is its own reward, we have plenty more to offer.
- Unlimited sick and vacation time: And by “unlimited,” we mean absolutely unlimited.
- Remote-work friendly: Work from home, work from the office, work from the moon — you decide.
- 401(k) employer match: We want to help you prepare for the future, now.
- Premium healthcare plans: Your health matters!
- Work from home stipends: Upgrade your home office on us.
- Annual learning credit: Want to learn something new? We'll pay for it.
