About the Team and Role:


We are seeking an entrepreneurial spirited Product Marketing Lead who will be a critical part of the leadership team behind Poe. As the first dedicated marketing role on Poe, you will build out product marketing capabilities from the ground up. Because there is not an explicit product marketing team, you will have an opportunity to partner with folks from other areas for elements of execution, including a close partnership with the product team given the rapid innovation of the product and fast moving market. As Poe scales, there will also be an opportunity to build a team to continue to scale growth, if that interests you.


This role will have a huge impact in developing Poe’s brand awareness and equity in the market leading to user and subscriber growth and an engaged community. A day-in-the-life will be highly varied and span Marketing strategy and brand development, including the brand relationship to Quora, and hands-on activities in content marketing, social media, community development, connection to paid acquisition activities, and more.

Responsibilities:


  • Develop Poe’s marketing strategy, messaging, and brand positioning
  • Build a content marketing program including social media, email marketing, and partnership marketing
  • Cultivate an engaged community around Poe and strengthen brand awareness
  • Work closely with various teams to align marketing and product roadmaps, including: Product, Brand Design, Communications, Business Marketing, and Data Science
  • As Poe scales, recruit and manage a high-performing marketing team


Minimum Requirements:


  • Ability to be available for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora's "coordination hours" (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time)
  • 7-10+ years of marketing experience, preferably at least partially in a fast-growing tech startup
  • Expertise in content marketing, social media, email marketing, community development, and partnership marketing
  • Track record of innovative, growth-oriented marketing initiatives
  • Excellent communication, writing, and storytelling skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a proven track record of innovating and adapting to change
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product teams as well as building and mentoring marketing teams

  • Startup experience developing messaging, content, community, and partnerships from the ground up
  • Passion for Poe’s mission and goals
  • Experience growing teams in a startup environment
  • Analytical and data-driven mindset with experience optimizing marketing ROI

There are many factors that will determine the starting pay, including but not limited to experience, location, education, and business needs.


  • US candidates only: For Colorado based applicants, the minimum base salary range is $136,000 - $144,000 USD + equity + benefits. For California, New Jersey, New York, and Washington based applicants, the minimum salary range is $136,000 - $170,000 USD + equity + benefits.
  • British Columbia candidates Only: For British Columbia based applicants, the minimum base salary range is $134,500 - $169,500 CAD + equity + benefits.
