SUMMARY:
We are hiring an experienced case study writer for our team! This person will interview customers and work to write powerful case studies for use by Sales, Customer Success, Support, and Marketing teams.
Success in this role requires a person familiar with business financial concepts and statements and passionate about storytelling, who is gifted at speaking with customers to tease out how Placer helped their business and delivered value. They should be adept at framing solutions, in writing, that clearly define ROI and help the Sales team close deals through vivid depictions of success.
The position is fully remote and reports to the Head of Product Marketing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role will play a major role in product marketing efforts, including and especially through:
- Interviews
- Participate in customer-facing calls to build relationships, understand how our customers perceive and use the value we deliver, and mine that information for case study opportunities.
- Speak with product, sales, and other internal stakeholders to identify possible customer case studies, then:
- Conduct customer interviews and uncover why our customers choose our product, how they use our product, and specific use cases that prove the value we deliver and positively impact our customers’ business. That information will then be used to create persuasive and visually appealing case studies that highlight the ROI our products deliver in dollars and cents.
- Storytelling and Writing
- Learn Placer products and the value they deliver in our customers’ language, across different user and buyer personas and industry verticals.
- Draft powerful customer case studies that detail our customers' background, need, and how they used Placer to materially impact their business, while simultaneously integrating strategic elements – key Placer messaging and positioning – into a single document.
- Assist with the creation of sales and marketing collateral, including 1-pagers, sales decks, video transcripts, product announcements, and more based on business need.
- Process Management and Improvement
- Take ownership of case studies from start to finish, and provide insights, strategies, and recommendations on how to improve and optimize.
REQUIREMENTS:
- You are a gifted writer and interviewer with exceptional writing, editing, and formatting skills, and a keen attention to detail. We anticipate that all of your time will be spent interviewing customers and internal stakeholders, and turning those findings into compelling, articulate case studies.
- You have a strong business acumen and understanding of business financials, KPIs, and processes. The case studies you will produce are not traditional marketing materials, but will also detail specific business outcomes around ROI and other ways Placer helps our customers’ businesses.
- You have the ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment across cross-functional teams on tight deadlines.
- You have a bias toward solving problems and moving forward. We hire intelligent people and trust their decision making.
- You have a demonstrated ability to engage cross-functionally with different teams (sales, marketing, design, product,etc.).
- At least 2-3 years as a business writer, with a compelling portfolio of work you can share.
- Ideally: familiar with commercial real estate, finance, retail, or CPG sectors.
- Startup experience preferred. We are a small team that moves quickly and has a bias toward action.
- Occasional travel to conferences or to visit customers
