Job Summary/Purpose Statement:

The Product Owner role is responsible for guiding the product development process and ensuring that the solution that is delivered will meet or exceed the needs of customers and industry partners. This position will work closely with internal and external development teams to ensure that the best quality product is developed. The role functions as a dual role in that they will take ownership of the line but also will ensure that product is supported both technically and from the application standpoint through the sales process.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with design and engineering to scope, build and launch new features of a product.
  • Build consensus amongst stakeholders by defining a shared vision and establishing a roadmap of prioritized initiatives, backed by quantitative research.
  • Act as a product manager responsible for prioritization of the backlog, leveraging experience to prioritize based not only on industry need, but also on business value and strategic direction.
  • Ensure the product capabilities meet our customers' requirements.
  • Make sure product is scalable and secure for integration into customer cloud enterprises.
  • Execute and oversee standard software/hardware development activities including design, development, implementation, test, documentation, and support using agile engineering principles.
  • Communicate the product roadmap to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Act as a focal point for enhancement requests from customers and partner companies to groom and shape the product roadmap.
  • Become a technical subject matter expert on all aspects of the Controls program to support customers and sales partners for both pre- and post-sales activities.
  • Review quotes and sales orders to ensure proper components are supplied for Controls as it relates to installation of systems.
  • Create flow programs and configuration documentation for installations.
  • Guide Field Support Team in building and configuring control panels.
  • Provide installation support, either remotely or on-site, for newly installed systems.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting to help diagnose the root-cause of any customer equipment failures.
  • Perform remote maintenance of direct drive systems which might include firmware and flow updates.
  • Train VES Team to support VES products.
  • Test and validate new VES releases and updates to ensure they meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Evaluate new technology and assess how it could be integrated into current products to enhance efficiencies and drive value for the customer and VES.
  • Performs Treasury management function in conjunction with the CFO and senior management needs.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Three to Five years of experience working in a similar role/environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Application Engineering, Control Systems, Computer Network infrastructure or related field, or equivalent combination of Education and Experience
  • Able to balance quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Detail-oriented with a high bar for quality when writing user stories, reviewing designs, brainstorming technical approach, and testing a feature before it is released
  • Able to keep up with a fast-paced, global company, focusing on execution
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Experience with a dairy-related company is preferred
  • Understanding of dairy farm operations and key drivers of profitability a big plus
  • Minimal travel required, up to 15%
