Position Purpose:

The Production Artist in this position is responsible for building print ready files, collecting files for production, managing revisions, reviewing proofs and attending press checks. Ensure Lindt & Sprüngli brand standards across all brands for color, font, imagery and production. Must possess strong typographic and layout skills, an exceptional eye for detail, color, and composition with a strong understanding of print reproduction with a strict attention to detail.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:


Travel/ Press checks/ Proof Review
  • Responsible for maintaining color consistency across like items with multiple vendors.
  • Must have thorough understand of G7 Process as it applies to Lindt Global Print Standards.
  • Responsible for assisting print production manager with color trials, press checks and vendor on-boarding.
  • Assist in management of print vendors regarding color management and pre-press.

Pre-Press Preparation
  • Collaborate closely with creative team and internal customers.
  • Prepare final press-ready files based on supplied specifications for several types of printing.
  • Provide image retouching, channel building and additional image manipulation as needed.
  • Follow a development timeline to ensure tasks are being completed on time.
  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise with both the creative team and print vendors and resolve any artwork issues that arise during production.
  • Responsible for reviewing final art files to ensure consistency with brand standards and printer specifications before releasing to print vendors.
  • Assist in training outside print agencies and packaging production artists.

Design Support
  • Provide constructive feedback on others design work and contributes creative inspiration to team.
  • Can present and communicate the thought process behind a proposed design solution and can understand and implement feedback from cross functional teams.
  • Able to generate complex guidelines, 10+ pages, and work collaboratively with marketing team to drive
    to completion.
  • Create high level 3D renderings for all new packaging designs and in-store displays under tight time constraints.
  • Is the SME for 3D renderings and executes templates for all 3D imagery across brands.
  • Recommend and problem-solve compositional challenges to art/design and step-in as a creative support-person and leader when necessary.
  • Prepare impeccable comprehensive mock-ups and presentation boards for design review meetings.
  • Manage all corrugate design work with trade marketing and print vendors.
  • Research and communicate to creative team any new software updates and trends (ie., 3D rendering software, asset management etc.)

Qualifications & Requirements:

Experience:

  • Minimum 4-6 years of pre-press experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Mininum 3 years of graphic design experience
  • Solid knowledge of color management a must. Experience with G7 is a plus.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Master in AdobeCS.
  • Problem solver and self-starter who can take full ownership of projects from start to finish.
  • Ability to effectively manage 30+ multiple projects with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of various print processes as well as artistic sensibility for design.
  • Self-starter and highly motivated; capable of working independently but collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong technical sketching skills to quickly bring ideas to life preferred but not required.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; highly detail oriented, meticulous and creative

Education:

  • Preferred: BA/BFA degree Graphic Design/graphic arts or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Travel: 30%+
