Summary:
Oversees the daily production floor to ensure all areas are optimized to meet business and customer requirements by performing the following duties personally or through effective leadership.
Supporting Plant Mgr. to closely Manage the production departments ensuring production schedules are managed, meeting and beating safety, production, and quality targets.
Duties:

Ensure all Production employees and production areas are in compliance with OSHA regulations and employees are instructed thoroughly with respect to work safety, environmental hazards and relevant conditions, regulations and procedures as necessary.

Manages line quality inspection, minor repair, and paint touch-up functions.

Review and develop standard operations and working practices and observes workers & supervision to ensure compliance with standards – Safety, Quality, Delivery & Productivity. Conduct walk backs on gaps and opportunities and correct in real-time. Acts as key driver and leader for plant safety and security.

Ensure production line documentation is kept up to date and signed-off - ensuring procedures and work instructions reflect actual behavior in the areas and are practically adhered to.

Manages production scheduling and planning to meet short and long-term goals to include labor, tooling and equipment utilizing all available resources.

Ensure overtime planning is effectively managed and coordinated where necessary with a plan to reduce.

Manages employee retention through effective people and process development – Recruitment support, Onboarding, Training, recognitions. labor planning with HR – Responsible for Manpower Planning

Drive production quality levels above DPR targets, maintain Zero recordable safety incidents.

Confirm daily reports on production and quality are relevant, accurate and up to date maintaining all daily production logs and required forms.

Monthly reporting on Key goals and activity to beat targets.

Ensure that all tooling condition is maintained, and life is extended where possible.

Manage Training coordinator to ensure Operator training is planned, recorded, and carried out effectively as required and when observations for improvement are noted. Improve the overall skills and awareness of all direct & indirect operatives.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives, promoting a clean, safe, and efficient work environment - 5S / TPM housekeeping methodology are to be applied throughout the plant. Audit each area and apply appropriate action where necessary.

Identify lean waste and inefficiency impacting assembly / quality performance and solutions to eliminate. Coordinate with operations and line personnel for problem resolution.

Manages and maintains headcount, retention and develops a positive, continuous improvement culture.

Performs management responsibilities to include: effective training, interviewing, approving vacations, completing performance appraisals, conducting discipline sessions and personnel development.

Motivates employees to participate in continuous improvement and increased productivity through Lean daily meetings & quality and Safety team involvement to build a strong factory culture.

Ensure material handling activities are performed safely and effectively – collaborate closely with Warehouse mgmt..

Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures, incident management and reporting.

Ensures new product development is supported to ensure effective transitions from development through to SOP.

Assists with implementation of new product introduction in line with agreed timelines.

Ensures Consumable tooling, maintenance spend, and stores management meets or is under budget and is managed effectively. managing and reducing the operating expenses.

Qualifications:

Education / Experience:
University program certificate, High School Diploma or GED; or four to eight years related experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific, financial, and technical documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers (internal/external), or members of the business community. Ability to negotiate contracts.
Math Ability:
Basic math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. Basic understanding and application of statistics.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software and Spreadsheet software and Manufacturing software (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook). MES & ERP system knowledge beneficial.
