Production Team Member I - Day Shift

Production Team Members (PTM) are the largest group of employees on the Manufacturing floor and are involved with all phases of the building of Wind Turbine Blades. From the components department where raw materials are received and prepared through the finishing of a blade with painting, sanding and polishing the PTM can transfer job related skills of teamwork, mechanical and physical interests, adaptability and flexibility to be involved in the revolution of wind energy across the globe. The PTM will participate in extensive job specific training for the various functions of building blades with an emphasis on salety and quality standards. Opportunities for growth and development occur with both formal ongoing learning courses as well as hands-on mentorship with experienced teammates.


Daily responsibilities

  • Operate all manufacturing equipment efficiently and safely
  • Follow Process Work Instructions, Manual production processing, Fit and assemble parts into complete assembly (such as bolts, screws, shafts or bearings)
  • Learn safety and quality improvement processes. Clean and organize work area according to 5S requirements
  • Demonstrate ability to meet production standards on specific tasks within required time. Contributes to the achievement of team goals
  • Complete tasks with high level of Safety and Quality standards
  • Required to be Safety-Minded. Will safely do the right thing, every time, without being told
  • Be a reliable team member by showing attendance within the requirements
  • Lift, position, and/or remove material from work areas
  • Load, stack and transport materials by hand, truck, crane or jib
  • Follow work process instructions specific to job task
  • Adhere to Production Worker Instructions (PWI)
  • Collaborative and effective team player and able to work with teams
  • Ability to read and comprehend Work Process Instructions and translate that into the ability to perform the tasks required
  • Accurately complete Quality and Administrative documents
  • Ability to complete tasks by using small tools

Required Abilities:

  • Must be able to see and hear alarms, timers and follow verbal instructions
  • Must be able to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the task
  • Must be able to tolerate an environment where chemicals and materials are used within OSHA guidelines
  • Ability to work at a pace in accordance to a takt plan that still meets safety and quality requirements
  • Regular & reliable attendance
  • Climb up and down stairs
  • Push, pull and lift to 35 pounds own their own and team lift up to 70 lbs.

Education, Training, and Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Work history of at least one year in preferably manufacturing preferred
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Completion of on-the-job training may be substituted for experience requirements
  • Brings teams together and promotes positive environment
  • Basic system skills-Microsoft office, SAP and Apriso
  • Must pass confined spaces test as required
  • Must be able to pass a respiratory fit test as required
  • Participate in Vestas Behavioral Change (safety observations) program.
  • Heavy equipment training and certifications for those using cranes, forklifts, jibs, gantries, etc.

  • Must be able to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the task, i.e. safety glasses, gloves, face shield, respirator (except Nacelles), bump cap
  • Must be able to tolerate an environment where chemicals and materials are used within OSHA guidelines.
  • Must demonstrate that they can sit on a rolling stool and maneuver 40 feet.
  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to reach overhead and assemble nuts
  • and bolts for 5 consecutive minutes.
  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate that they kneel on 1 knee, squat, bend over so
  • hands are at a height of knees for 4 minutes (1 minute each)
  • Candidate must demonstrate that they can climb up and down 8 stairs.
  • Frequently push, pull and lift to 35 pounds own their own and team lift up to 70 pounds.

Compensation:

Employees are responsible to perform duties related to generating and storing hazardous waste in satellite accumulation areas. Must remain within regulatory and internal compliance when using, handling, or segregating hazardous materials and waste. While performing duties of the job there may be exposure to toxic or corrosive chemicals and noise levels that would require specific PPE in an OSHA controlled environment
