Description:

Job Purpose

Take an active role in packaging seed corn in the various package sizes. Ensure all packaging equipment is properly maintained and all safety precautions are in place when in operation. Make certain the labeling, printing, and any seals are properly applied and conform to Corteva standards. Follow the SOP’s or WI’s as to batch, hybrid, package, tags to use and other necessary information. Make certain finished seed is stacked away properly in the warehouse in a safe manner. Communicate storage needs with the warehouse staff.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Responsible for reviewing SOP’s and WI
• Assist packaging shift operator with set up and preparation prior to packaging
• Check equipment operation and safety devices to make sure they are working properly
• Check with warehouse personnel to make certain where to stack away packaged seed
• Check all labels, tags, and print to make certain they coincide with the instructions on SOP’s or WI’s
• Make certain packaging area is kept clean and organized
• Assist packaging shift operator with other employees and issues that arise
• During packaging off season, perform preventative maintenance and repairs on packaging equipment
• Cross train in all functional areas of the plant at the direction of packaging shift operator or plant management
• Perform other duties as directed by the plant management team

Competencies Desired

• PC knowledge or willingness to learn
• Communication skills – capable of communicating with packaging shift employees, warehouse personnel, conditioning personnel, and plant leader.
• Possess organizational and time management skills – able to complete multiple tasks in a timely manner
• Ability to provide effective employee training in packaging, forklift and safety training

Additional Requirements

• Physically able to lift 75 pounds (will not have to lift bags from floor) bags will be on table and will slide bags off.
• Work extended hours during peak seasons, may include weekends and some holidays
• Work shift work and nights.
• 12 hour days up to 5 days a week.
• Availability to work all shifts
• Capable of working without constant supervision

Additional notes:
**Work activities could be performed in elevated heat, cold and dusty conditions. **
This role will start on day shift. The schedule for now is 8 hour days 7am-3:30pm Mon-Friday.
The 12 hours/day will start around late August or Sept. Reassigning to days or night shift will occur Oct. 1st. Flexible to work with contractors schedule to determine who is able to work on days or nights.

Pay rate:
$19.00 per hour
$1.00/hour for 2nd & 3rd Shifts
