Position Summary
Responsible for wireless device testing at 3rd party labs in accordance with the requirements and timelines specified by corresponding US carrier(s) in support of obtaining Technical Approval (TA) in a timely manner.
Role and Responsibilities
Responsible for wireless device testing at 3rd party labs in accordance with the requirements and timelines specified by corresponding US carrier(s) in support of obtaining Technical Approval (TA) in a timely manner. Responsible for interface to and the point of contact (POC) for the external labs where testing activities are expected to be performed. Work on the coordination and collaboration with Samsung software (SW) and hardware (HW) R&D, and various other internal teams located in USA, Korea, and India. Work with R&D, PM and other internal teams to determine schedule, test scope, test result leveraging strategies, carrier report submission timelines, deliverables (samples / tools / licenses / documents / checklists / diagrams / special instructions, etc.) that will be required to support testing in the labs, assisting to obtain test approval (PUMI) from HQ PLs (Project Leads), planning resource requirements with labs for meeting testing needs, negotiating priority service for effective resolution of urgent issues, sending deliverables, monitoring testing progress, supporting issue resolution, facilitating debug, failure retest, regression and emergency testing, receiving final report, verifying reports for errors, and submitting reports to R&D and PM teams for carrier submission as required for achieving TA.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Communication Engineering, a related field, or a foreign equivalent plus 5 years of progressively responsible postbaccalaureate experience in job offered or related telecommunications role. Applicants must have 5 years of experience in the following: (1) wireless mobile device hardware and software components; (2) mobile components including chips and chipsets, antenna/RF, power module and their interworking processes at the device and network level; (3) incorporating evolution of wireless technology in testing and validation requirements; (4) US carriers’ test requirement, delivery process and communication format; (5) 3GPP Release versions that apply to 5G, 4G, 3G and their variations based on adoption; (6) diagnostic tools including QXDM/QPST/QCAT for device testing: and (7) analyzing and optimizing test plans based test cases and risk level assessment.
