About the Position

This position is responsible for providing primary administrative and operational program support and coordination for WWU AS Child Development Center (CDC). They will work with the CDC Director to coordinate all aspects of program operations outside of the early childhood classrooms. They support CDC teaching staff with operational logistics and record keeping.

You must enjoy fast-paced, detail-oriented work, supporting a diverse team of Early Childhood Educators and be fully committed to our CDC mission to holistically support our early childhood learners and families.

Candidates for this permanent position must be self-motivated with demonstrated strong multi-tasking skills and experience in a fast-based, adaptive and collaborative environment.

This is a full-time, 11 month cyclic position.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated progressive administrative, budgeting, and/or office management experience reflecting increased autonomy and responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and autonomously making decisions regarding policy interpretation, troubleshooting, and resolving issues.
  • Experience managing schedules with multiple parties or of similar complexity.
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast paced and changing environment which requires multi-tasking and autonomy in prioritizing tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing access, diversity, equity and inclusion. An appreciation for the benefits of a diverse workplace.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent systems)
  • Adult/Child CPR Certification or ability to complete employer-paid training and certification within 6-months of employment
  • Within 3 months of employment, complete registration with the Professional Development and Workforce Registry (MERIT) of WA State Department of Children, Youth and Families (DYCF) including background check and TB test.
  • Meet WWU vaccination or exemption requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated awareness and interest in Early Childhood Care and Education issues.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of WA State Department of Child, Youth, and Family (DCYF) and related Licensing regulations for childcare centers.
  • Experience in supporting grant research and writing, including budget development.
  • Experience in planning training of personnel in a detailed, legal and policy-driven environment.
  • Experience working with toddler and/or preschool age children.

Salary

$3,480 - $4,541/month depending on qualifications and experience

This position is part of bargaining unit A and is covered by the collective bargaining agreement with Washington Federation of State Employees.
