PROGRAM MANAGER - Education
This salaried position reports to the VSGC Director and supervises two full-time positions (a Program Specialist, a Technical Programs Coordinator) and other support personnel as needed. This position functions as an Internship Manager and is responsible for the planning and execution of the Commonwealth STEM Industry Internship Program (CSIIP). The CSIIP is a free-to-use online system that allows Virginia undergraduate students majoring in STEM-related fields to apply for paid internships with more than 250 Virginia companies. The program has recently placed about 130 interns per year for spring, summer, and fall internships. One of the primary tasks of the Internships Manager is to grow the program and increase the number of participating companies and student placements. Other duties include sustaining existing partnerships and overseeing the recruitment and placement process. This position also oversees the NASA STEM Takes Flight Community College Research Experiences Program. which places about 27 students per year in paid internships at NASA Wallops Flight Facility and NASA Langley Research Center. Proposal writing and development to secure grants for expanded internship opportunities and internship subsidies. This position requires demonstrated experience in strong written and verbal communication skills as it requires extensive interaction with current and potential companies to market and grow the program and outreach to undergraduate STEM students for program.
Required Education and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, public administration, or related field.
A minimum of three years’ experience in workforce development, recruiting, industry internships, monitoring student experiences
