We are looking for an experienced Program Manager to oversee Process Development programs of high strategic priority. This role will report to the Associate Director, Portfolio Strategy Analytics, Process Development.

In this role, you will supervise program strategy implementation by coordinating activities between multiple projects. You will provide a holistic and strategic lens across key milestones, bringing structure and developing governance framework. Your key stakeholders will include Senior Leadership and Subject Matter Experts from highly technical teams. Working with the Program Lead, you will ensure stakeholders are engaged and aligned on the program plan by reporting progress against key milestones, and escalation and mitigation of key risks and issues. You will identify interdependencies and solve complex business problems seeking guidance from other colleagues across Tech Ops as needed. You will develop regular updates for the Program Lead in preparation for executive meetings and gain high visibility across the organization.

To create an excellent partnership with stakeholders and leaders across the corporation, as well as to foster continued professional growth, this role will be based in our global headquarters in Santa Monica, California with a flexible/hybrid arrangement that requires minimum of 3 days/week onsite

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Managing high priority Programs for Process Development:
    • Develop Program Plan and visualization of the timeline and key deliverables
    • Set the Program governance and determine escalation path to resolve issues
    • Identify risks and mitigations
    • Lead periodic check-ins with Program Lead to track progress against key milestones
    • Guide the agenda and action items from Program meetings
    • Drive the process to initiate new project workstreams, including identification of team leaders and members, chartering and kick-off
    • Develop presentations for key forums and other written updates to various audiences including but not limited to Process Development Leadership Team and Tech Ops Leadership Team.
    • Secure project management resources for workstreams as needed
  • Ensuring the necessary change management and communication plans are in place and aligned with the Process Development Leadership Team
  • This role ensures appropriate managing, tracking, reporting of all Program related items and ensures that budgets and schedules are realistically set and attained, promote implementation of meaningful governance, best practices, and successful delivery from design to Program closeout.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional travel may be needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience in program and/or project management with a deep understanding of drug development and interdependencies OR
  • MS/MBA with 4+ years of experience in program and/or project management with a deep understanding of drug development and interdependencies OR
  • High School Diploma with 11+ years of experience in program and/or project management with a deep understanding of drug development and interdependencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable in cGMP manufacturing and CMC regulatory requirements for pharmaceuticals; cell therapy CMC experience.
  • Knowledgeable in closed and aseptic processing techniques and controls
  • Excellent program and/or project management skills. PMP Certification is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience of influencing without authority and managing expectations of senior leaders
  • Excellent communication skills paired with high emotional intelligence
  • Smartsheet, PowerPoint, and MS Project knowledge

The salary range for this position is: $117,725.00 - $152,350.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
