Program Monitor

Overview:
Under the supervision of the Supplier Diversity Programs Manager, the Program Monitor will help City departments increase their spending with small, local, minority and women owned businesses for goods and services procurements. The Program Monitor will work closely with the Supplier Diversity team and City department staff to understand their respective portfolio of procurements, work with stakeholders to identify diverse business availability, and recommend and support the appropriate outreach & interventions for those procurements to maximize M/WBE participation. The Office of Supplier Diversity sits in the Economic Opportunity and Inclusion (EOI) Cabinet. It represents an integral part of the Mayor's mission to create a more economically equitable city. The Supplier Diversity Program certifies businesses and manages programs that work to ensure small and diverse businesses have access and are better positioned to compete in City contracting.
Responsibilities:
  • Becomes sufficiently knowledgeable about Supplier Diversity and Equitable Procurement workflows and best practices to provide advice, mentoring, training and guidance to other departments, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Provide better, more personalized assistance to departments in preparing their Equitable Procurement Plans.
  • Helps City departments execute plans to increase spending with City-certified vendors.
  • Provide 1:1 support to departments in planning and executing equitable procurements, identifying potential Sheltered Market opportunities, etc.
  • Assist departments in meeting their supplier diversity performance metrics.
  • Performs related work as required.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications:
  • Applicants must have at least four (4) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, administrative, managerial or professional experience in the field of office or business administration.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred and may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of research techniques and procedures, database management, and accounting procedures.
  • Knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Knowledge of BAIS Financial and other City utilized software and hardware preferred.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
Boston Residency Required

Terms:
Union/Salary Plan/Grade: SENA/ MM-1/ Grade 6
35 hours per week
