Project Coordinator, Country Engagement

This position will be based in Washington, DC, United States. This position will require a mixture of remote and in-person work. Work authorization to work in the US required at the time of application.

About the Program:

The NDC Partnership is a global coalition of countries and institutions collaborating to drive transformational climate action through sustainable development. In 2015, the world endorsed the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Nations signal their commitments to the Paris Agreement through Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) - each country’s strategy to cut its own greenhouse gas emissions and build resilience against the negative effects of a changing climate. The Partnership advances the goals of the Paris Agreement by bringing together nearly 200 countries and institutions in new ways to accelerate NDC implementation and enhance ambition over time. The Partnership’s work through 120 partners supporting almost 90 countries produces many examples of impact, lessons learned and ideas for the future. The Partnership is governed by a Steering Committee, co-chaired by two country representatives.

Job Highlight:

You will perform a variety of administrative processes under the guidance of the Country Engagement Director and Deputy Director of Operations. In conducting the role, the you will liase with internal team members to help ensure rapid and compliant delivery of the program, including administration, procurement, human resources and finance. The team member will support a variety of tasks around events, contracts and partner coordinator. The team member will be supported by a team of other coordinators and Senior operations staff.

What will you do:

Project & Partner Management: 60%

    • Track performance of project deliverables and assist NDC Partnership Director of Country Engagement supporting teams and partners to meet targets and goals

    • Manage the process for project commitments (i.e. agreements, contracts, work authorizations, and purchase orders), and pay invoices in compliance with established governance and funder requirements

    • Keep track of past performance and lessons learned to use on future project preparation

    • Coordinate outreach efforts on behalf of Partnership’s Country Engagement team or specific project activities

    • Work with the Partnership’s Management Team to identify external partners, develop legal instruments for collaboration, help partners meet deliverable targets and comply with funder requirements, and ensure accurate submission of progress and financial reports

    • Develop and implement process tools to track Country Engagement work, and integrating work across pillars and ensuring flow of information

    • Support Partnership Plan development process in several countries with content and logistics, working as important focal point for high-level partners, delivering high quality products and documenting commitments (contracts, payments, reports, etc.).

    Event Planning & Support: 10%

    • Support planning and execution of globally dispersed workshops, country scoping missions, and small conferences as part of NDC Partnership Country Engagement and other work streams

    • In close cooperation with NDC Partnership’s Communications team lead on workshops and missions, supporting logistics and content development support

    Administration: 30%

    • Attend internal and external meetings, taking notes and tracking follow-ups with staff and partners

    • Coordinates and schedules meetings regarding projects among team

    • Support management of calendar and communications of Country Engagement senior management

    • Coordinate recruitment and onboarding of new staff members

    • Keep accurate information on donors and contacts

    • Manage Participant Agreements, expense reports, travel arrangements and other payments for Support Unit staff in Bonn, and consultants and NDC Partners

    • Systematically tracks, monitors, and communicates internal documents and deliverables so the Country Engagement team has real-time access to important information

    What will you need:

    • Education: Bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field or with substantial professional work to demonstrate the relevance of that experience

    • Experience: Minimum of 2 year of relevant full time work experience required

    • Experience in event management and budgeting processes

    • At least one year of hands-on experience, ideally within an international nonprofit organization

    • At least one year of experience using Microsoft suite, database management, cloud- and web-based communications. Advanced Excel skills required

    • Spanish/French language skills are an asset

    • US work authorization required for this position

Potential Salary: Salary range is between 57,000 and 68,000 USD. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
