The Manager, Technical Manufacturing Solutions is responsible for the technical performance of project controls (scope, cost, schedule, and risk management) and the business development expansion of services at partner accounts. In this billable client facing role, they will identify, train, develop, coach, and mentor technical teams developing high performing project engineers and consultants. The Manager is responsible for client relationship management and acts as client liaison during delivery of manufacturing solution services engagements. They are strategically focused and responsible for client satisfaction through project delivery while maintaining and growing client relationships.
In this client-facing role, the Manager will be able to identify additional opportunities to provide new and added services for the mutual benefit of the client and the organization. They will also keep abreast of market and technology trends through industry groups. Success in this role requires proven technical expertise combined with the continued development of business opportunities, advanced people and team-building skills, and a consulting mindset to deliver technical and business solutions that align with our Patient Focused and People First mindset.
Essential functions of the position:
Project Delivery and Team Member Development
- Manage teams at various client sites/locations to ensure consistency of technical services, compliant with client and Manufacturing Solutions processes and standards and responsiveness to both client and employee requirements.
- Collaboratively identify and implement employee performance and development plans to meet individual development and organizational growth goals.
- Direct and manage teams executing projects within the Manufacturing Solutions practice areas with overall responsibility for technical solutions, cost, quality, and client satisfaction.
- Strategically assign team members to accounts for mutual benefit and identify Team Member succession planning to maximize the readiness of future leaders.
- Lead initiatives and projects by ensuring Team Members understand team and individual goals and responsibilities, managing priorities and ensuring timely and high-quality completion of work.
- Support project direction and strategy based on client vision and expected outcomes throughout the entire project delivery life cycle without oversight.
- Support and identify resource planning, as well as define project objectives and requirements necessary to structure a project or activity.
- Subject Matter Expert who provides technical direction, training, career development and performance assessments to ensure highest quality delivery.
- Analyze, identify trends, and ensure performance of PO management tools; managing burn rates; need for new proposals and proactively communicate PO performance. Proactively identify and ensure success through earned value analysis for clients and maximizing performance for Manufacturing Solutions.
- Drive efficiency through team member utilization and support cross-account / cross-region allocations.
- Identify Professional Development opportunities for Team Members to develop their skills.
- Build and maintain high performing teams ensuring successful account management and growth.
- Strategically identify talent needs and follow through with support of the recruitment and talent acquisition process.
- Identify and plan opportunities to connect Manufacturing Solution’s Patient Focus mindset to our Partners.
Business Development & Strategy
- Drive Manufacturing Solution’s business development initiatives across assigned accounts through proactively identifying opportunities to expand services.
- Review and populate site dashboards providing direction resulting in project health and expansion opportunities.
- Lead, oversee, and execute client project initiatives allowing for the identification of new and added services for the mutual benefit of the client and organization.
- Support, review, and analyze Business Development, Project Delivery and Team Member activities.
- Support in the development, implementation, and execution of strategic plans to meet the Manufacturing Solutions business development and growth targets.
- Collaborate across the Manufacturing Solutions practice teams to develop solutions for joint business opportunities that meet business and client objectives.
- Monitor and manage budgets and planning needs to meet the necessary project requirements.
- Support the maintenance of new and existing client accounts, focusing on project delivery and actively seeking account growth.
- Work with client’s business/technical leadership to facilitate workflow development, project scope development and risk assessment, issue resolution and work forecasting and planning.
- Provide direction and innovation in service and/or process improvement, cost reduction and recommendations for business process optimization.
- Stay current with the latest trends in the biomanufacturing industry and implement strategies that leverage changes in the marketplace into new business opportunities.
- Thorough understanding of our target industries including how each sector works together, interdependencies, emerging trends, and key challenges.
- Maintain business development data within customer relationship management (CRM)
- Support strategic creation of cross site / cross account business development tools creating a force multiplier impact.
- Mentor, train, and coach team members in client engagement, relationship management, and leadership.
- Attend and represent Manufacturing Solutions at ISPE or other networking events.
- Other duties as assigned by Leadership.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Required:
- B.S. or M.S. in Life Science, Engineering, Business, or related discipline and/or comparable military experience.
- Typically, a minimum of 8 years of advanced therapy, life science, pharmaceutical, or biotech experience.
- Typically, 6 years of managing high-performing teams.
- Typically, 4 years business development, lead generation, or sales experience.
- Experience translating client visions to set the direction, frame the project, provide clarity to direct reports and client, and deliver results.
Other Required:

- Travel as needed to fulfill Business Development and Team Member initiatives.
- Experience operating as a trusted strategic advisor to organization decision-makers on short and long-term organizational initiatives.
