A large utility company in Boston is seeking a Project Manager for a long term contract. The PM will lead a team supporting the design and implementation of a new Data Management System. The new system will be configured to support a Smart Metering solution for the company with a new Billing System. The PM will manage the project team on a daily basis, set up and run standard project governance structure including status, issues, risks, and steering committee meetings. The PM will need to provide executive level reporting and regular status updates on a weekly basis to track project milestones.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct all aspects of installation projects from conception to completion
- Schedule and direct the work of onsite and offsite staff to accomplish the project requirements
- Review the project requirements in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs
- Coordinate and direct subcontractors
- Select tools, materials and equipment and track inventory (if necessary)
- Meet contractual conditions of performance
- Review the work progress on a daily basis
- Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status
- Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging problems
- Analyze, manage and mitigate risks
- Ensure quality standards and proper compliance to client rules and regulations
- Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines
- Review contracts related to projects and understand the scope of work
- Manage the profitability of projects
- Provide feedback to project team members on performance
- Proactively communicates with and seeks feedback from customers on how SDI can maintain/improve customer satisfaction
Requirements
- Project Manager with 5-7 years of experience working directly on large system implementations.
- PMP or Agile PM certification (e.g. PMI-ACP, CSM, ICP)
- Utilities industry (gas/electric) experience
- Experience implementing an AMI solution for a Tier-1 utility
- Experience in working with a distribution utility is a plus
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills to assist with presentations.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Strong skills in MS Project or Agile Project Management tools (e.g. Jira)
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to juggle multiple in-flight items.
