The Project Manager manages Information Technology Division's strategic and tactical programs and projects supporting the College's Student Information System, Workday HCM and Finance, as well as projects from the division and other business departments. The ideal candidate understands the unique requirements and challenges facing higher education and effectively manages governance and delivery of enterprise solutions producing the most desired outcomes that meet business objectives. Other responsibilities include compiling and documenting user requirements, functioning as a servant leader to enable the project team to achieve desired project outcome. Reporting to the Director of the PMO and following the standard PMO framework, the project manager plans, prioritizes, executes, and keeps the project team organized and coordinated to achieve the defined project goals. The project manager is expected to be efficient in PPM tools and dashboards to provide regular status updates to the project team, and share key project information through visual presentation and summary reports to project sponsors, stakeholders or senior leadership.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Collaborate with various business department users to define, prioritize and develop projects. Ensure project alignment with business goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Create detailed project plans that include clear objectives, timelines, business requirement documentation as needed, deliverables, staffing requirements, constraints, scopes, and defined risks following the PMO Project Management Framework.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify specific project requirements to make sure business needs are met.
  • Function as a Business Analyst on projects, responsible for discovering, validating, documenting and communicating business processes and requirements for large and complex IT projects.
  • Provide regular analysis of project status, remediating problems as they arise, effectively communicate risk and manage accountability of project team members to ensure project success.
  • Develop and maintain consultant and vendor relationships, and ensure obligations and quality work are fulfilled within the statements of work.
  • Prepare regular project status updates and summary reports to stakeholders for strategic projects.
  • Organize meetings with a clear meeting agenda. Document and share meeting notes in a precise and timely manner.
  • Provide support and training to departmental business managers and staff so project management methodologies and best practices are adopted and consistently utilized.
  • Track project performance by timely assessment of short and long-term achievements, identifying gaps for future improvements.
  • Create comprehensive project documentation through developing tracking sheets, diagrams, visual dashboards, reports or process maps. Ensure the use of project management tools.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent of education and work experience. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, with minimum 10 years project management, or combination of project management, Client Relation or Business Systems Analyst experience.
  • Experience managing complex enterprise scope and technical projects.
  • Significant experience in managing large scope and complex IT, Enterprise Resource Planning and data consolidation or data integrity projects.
  • Experience implementing Workday, Salesforce or projects in education in general.
  • Experience with modern project management/portfolio management.
  • Previous experience working in Higher Ed settings.

  • Exceptional documentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive vendor management, negotiation and conflict resolution experiences and skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of project management methodologies and tool sets.
  • Ability to communicate, motivate and persuade the project team, and gain support from leadership teams to achieve the desired project goals.
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and resourcefully.
  • Excellent organizational skills including multitasking and attention to details.
  • Self-starter, work independently under minimum supervision.

  • This position is generally sedentary, movement throughout the area is required from time to time.
  • The ability to have continuous oral and written communication with co-workers and supervisors is essential.
  • Repetitive movements, occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds, reaching, lifting, and stooping. The ability to read a computer screen, detect color-coding and read fine print will be expected.

WORK ENVIRONMENT - Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

COMPENSATION

Starting salary for this position will be between $95,848 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

This position is primarily a hybrid role with mandatory days in the office as needed. The hybrid arrangement will be made upon hire. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Boston campus in order to ensure operational effectiveness.

Grade of Position: S-23-12E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25

This position will be exclusively represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 888 for purposes of wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
