We seek a doctorate level or equivalent degree project scientist with substantial experience using computer aided drug (CADD) design techniques to guide library screening and lead optimization efforts. The ideal candidate will have ample experience with diverse tools in a pharmaceutical industry context or similar, with a thorough understanding of the available methods and their pros and cons, as well as experience interacting with both academic and industry collaborators in a discovery setting. In this position, the project scientist will engage in modeling efforts to guide ongoing screening and lead optimization work, as well as engaging with graduate student and postdoctoral researchers in participating computational labs to help them engage in ongoing modeling efforts and bring new techniques to bear in screening.
In this role, the project scientist will provide a hub or bridge between different experimental efforts and available computational resources, both those the project scientist can provide through their own expertise and skill, and those available elsewhere on campus, such as in the Mobley lab. The project scientist will work under the oversight of Dr. Mobley but engage frequently (ideally sharing space with and continually engaging with) the participating experimental groups to provide ongoing modeling guidance to discovery projects, with the goal of tightly integrating modeling and experiment.
A reasonable estimate for this position is $68,400-$180,200. https://ap.uci.edu/wp-content/uploads/projSci.pdf “Off-scale salaries” and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.
