Position Overview:
Promesa Academy Charter School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Education Teacher Assistant to support our mission of fostering academic, social, and emotional growth in our youngest learners. The Teacher Assistant will work closely with the Lead Teacher to provide a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for students. This role involves helping to implement lesson plans, supporting classroom management, and contributing to the overall development of children.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist the Lead Teacher in planning, preparing, and implementing developmentally appropriate learning activities that promote the intellectual, physical, and emotional growth of students.
- Support Classroom Instruction: Help deliver small-group instruction, monitor student engagement, and provide individualized support during lessons, activities, and transitions.
- Classroom Management: Assist in maintaining an orderly, clean, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning. Ensure students adhere to classroom rules and routines.
- Student Supervision: Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other non-instructional activities to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Prepare Materials: Help prepare and organize instructional materials, set up learning centers, and ensure all resources are available for lessons.
- Monitor Student Progress: Assist with assessing student progress and performance through observations and informal assessments, and provide feedback to the Lead Teacher.
- Collaborate with Staff: Work as part of the teaching team, supporting school events, professional development, and other activities as needed.
- Promote Social and Emotional Learning: Encourage positive behavior, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills in students through active guidance and support.
- Communication with Parents: Provide support in communicating with parents and caregivers, as directed by the Lead Teacher.
$17.75 - $24 an hour
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
Experience: Prior experience working with young children in an educational setting is strongly preferred.
Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and other staff.
- Patience, flexibility, and a genuine love for working with children.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and behavior management techniques.
Work Environment:
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, sit on the floor, and engage in physical activities with young children.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, with some additional responsibilities for school events or meetings.
