We are seeking a dynamic Government Relations Coordinator to join Propelus. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Director of External Affairs & Government Relations with developing and implementing state government strategies nationwide to effectively engage with elected officials, government entities, industry associations/groups, monitor legislative and regulatory developments, and advocate for our company's interests. This role requires a deep understanding of state government, strong communication and critical thinking skills, along with the ability to build powerful relationships with key stakeholders.
Description |The Government Relations Coordinator is an essential part of the External Affairs team and reports to the Director of External Affairs & Government Relations. The Government Relations Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Director of External Affairs & Government Relations along with forging, managing and maintaining relationships with state associations, professional coalitions and other state industry stakeholders to support business strategies. This position is in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
Responsibilities | Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Responsible for proactively identifying, managing and maintaining strategic relationships with state associations, industry coalitions and state agencies to support business strategies as assigned.
Responsible for identifying, securing and managing advocates in various jurisdictions.
Prepare concise and accurate responses for legislative research requests. Responses may be oral or written and could include background/research, state examples, and legislative summaries or tables.
Assist and support the Director with advocacy and thought leadership grassroots materials including but not limited to: position letters, push cards, one-pagers, talking points, case studies, success stories and collaboration stories, as needed.
Assist and support the Director with tracking state activities in assigned areas. May track state legislation or other activity in government affairs platform or external webpages and maintain internal tracking on several other issues to stay up to date on state actions.
May assist with monitoring and reporting on targeted board meetings, legislative hearings, and other government meetings on behalf of the business.

Proven experience and success with supporting government affairs strategies.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities to navigate complex government processes and issues.
Proficient in using government affairs/bill tracking software along with other tools for research, analysis, communication and stakeholder management.
Required Experience:
The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in state government affairs.
Preferred Experience:
Experience working at a state agency in government affairs; and/or, experience as a legislative staff member or other similar position.
Existing government affairs relationships in state(s), helpful but not required.
Proven track record of successfully advocating for an organization's interests in government settings.
Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in Government, Political Science or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Full time positions are scheduled to work 40 hours per week, M-F unless required otherwise by projects.
