Joining our team at Public Preparatory Network

 

The DYCD Education Specialist will be responsible for ensuring alignment of the Girls Prep after-school program with the overall academic objectives of the school. The Education Specialist will primarily work closely with Activity Specialists, Teachers and external subcontractors to ensure the success of each of the students in the After-School program. The Education Specialist must consistently plan for, and monitor, the progress of each of their students to meet this responsibility.

 

The DYCD Education Specialist also assesses the needs of Special Education students within the General Education student body. They ensure that all activities are accessible to all students and work collaboratively with the Director of Inclusive Learning and other members of the academic and DYCD team to ensure that after-school activity lesson plans align with IEP/504 needs.

 

The DYCD Education Specialist also coordinates and assists with the administrative and operational functions of the program. This includes managing attendance, pulling reports, taking the lead on family communication initiatives and assisting with behavior management as well as special events.



Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Schedule weekly meetings with Activity Specialists, Teachers and subcontractors to review submitted activity plans to ensure alignment and quality.
  • Develop a rotational after school activity observation schedule, ensuring activities are observed on a consistent basis.
  • Deliver regular feedback and communicate program needs to after school staff.
  • Manage all attendance for every activity.
  • Work with the Program Coordinator on family communication needs and initiatives.
  • Work with the After School team and Family Coordinator to support student behavioral/discipline issues.
  • Provide coverage to after school activities as needed.
  • Serve one or two lunch duty periods per week.
  • Communicate with activity leaders to ensure all activity lesson plans are submitted in a timely            fashion.
  • Revise and tailor activity plans through observation/feedback meetings to ensure accessibility for all participants, (special and general ed).
  • Maintain clear and organized records of lesson plans, submissions, observations notes and student files.
  • Assist with filing, regular activity enrollment, data entry and program application management.
  • Assist with the Director with planning special after school events and with arrival, dismissal and pick-up.
  • Assist the Director and or leadership team with other projects as needed.


The ideal candidate will have:
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Certification is not required for this role; however a Master’s degree is preferred in a related   field.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and execute on strategy, manage multiple initiatives, oversee complex information in a systematic way.
  • Strong written and verbal communication as well as people skills in a complex and high-speed setting.
  • Superior ability to work collaboratively and to receive and implement feedback.
  • A deep understanding of the education field, its systems, and stakeholders.
  • An excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A strong working knowledge of SIS functions such as PowerSchool, E-School, ATS and/or DYCD Online.
  • A deep commitment to single-sex education


The DYCD Education Specialist is a 12 month employee.
