QA Supervisor (SACB)

We are currently hiring a QA Supervisor in Cincinnati, OH .

The QA Supervisor helps to oversee the operations of the brewery Packaging Quality Assurance Laboratory so that work is done in accordance with all quality standards in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner. Reporting to this position are all Packaging QC Technicians.

What You'll Brew:

Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of Quality Control Technicians
  • Responsible for the hiring, onboarding, training, and retaining of engaged & high-performing coworkers.
  • Ensures that direct reports are provided with clear expectations & direction and are empowered and held accountable to achieve their goals and perform their jobs.
  • Builds a collaborative & results-oriented team by resolving conflicts as they arise, removing roadblocks, inspiring people to action, and helping the team to decide to change and/or make changes.
  • Provides regular and meaningful feedback to coworkers through development, coaching, and comprehensive performance reviews that focuses on learning, growth and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure there is regular open and honest, consistent, two-way dialogue to support performance and SAPB culture, values, and principles across the brewery.
  • Must foster and maintain positive working relationships with others, including teambuilding events.
  • Direct Technicians to perform required tasks to ensure quality production of product through proper sanitation, processing, and packaging procedures. May be required to perform the tasks of a Technician as needed. Provide coaching/guidance in off hours (nights and weekends) as required.
  • Participate in interview and selection process. Lead the onboarding of hires and participate in Technician succession planning.
  • Assist with preparation and delivery of employee evaluation process and ensure alignment within the spirit of the performance management program, including new hire evaluations.
  • Oversee and lead training and development plans and initiatives of Technicians and on Packaging floor.
  • Work with and coach employees to improve performance and close performance issues or gaps.

Process Adherence & Equipment Ownership:

  • Must observe and ensure adherence and compliance with safety/environmental standards/requirements, sanitation standards and GMP guidelines.
  • Participate in and ensure teams are following new processes and projects related to Continuous Improvement efforts. (Lean, Kaizen, activities.
  • Supervise Packaging QC Technicians including skills development, task assignments and coordination of overtime. i.Accurate and timely reporting of hours worked for payroll purposes.
  • Develop effective reporting communication techniques for data results, trends, and outliers to monitor and escalate any issues or concerns. Make recommendations to improve.
  • Ensure Food Safety through execution of HACCP, GMP and Housekeeping standards.
  • Coordinate all aspects of discrepant material handling, including maintenance of QC Hold Logs and scheduling of resources for reselection activities.
  • Administer Material Improvement Report (MIR) and QAR systems, including communication with vendors regarding discrepant supplied material.
  • Coordinate packaging qualification activities.
  • Maintenance and calibration of packaging lab gages and test equipment.
  • On-going monitoring of pasteurizer performance.
  • Identify quality related issues and make recommendations to bring issues to closure.
  • Knowledgeable on company policies and procedures and administers them in a fair and consistent manner. Including, but not limited to, brewery attendance program.
  • Reporting, investigation, and accurate communications for incidents and work-related injuries.
  • Ability to be flexible and shift priorities in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment.
  • Acts on behalf of the Quality Control Manager when that manager is away from the brewery regarding meetings, visitors, etc.

Working Conditions:

  • There is frequent exposure production environments:
  • Subject to loud and constant noise
  • Non-environmentally conditioned spaces which may lead to extreme hot and cold
  • Operating environment is complex and densely populated with production equipment and
  • forklifts that necessitates high situational awareness
  • Work overtime as needed which may require 12-hour days, weekends, and holidays
  • There is frequent exposure production environments:
  • Subject to loud and constant noise
  • Non-environmentally conditioned spaces which may lead to extreme hot and cold
  • Tolerate summer/winter temperature conditions and Hot and Cold in Production Environment

What Ingredients You'll Bring:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills/experience
  • 5+ years related experience required.
  • Knowledge of basic lab procedures.
  • Knowledge of databases desirable.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, cGMPs, Process Improvement and Process Control.
  • Knowledge and ability to use critical thinking to evaluate outcomes of testing programs and make recommendations.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management in multi-functional departments.
  • Proven problem solving/conflict resolution skills; be able to think through issues and arrive at well-thought conclusions.
  • Ability to successfully motivate and coach others.
  • Strong follow through, communication, interpersonal, and teambuilding skills.
  • Able to impact and effect positive change with a flexible, open-minded, positive approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to be successful in a collaborative team environment.
  • Competent (or become competent) in using company business systems including, but not limited to; Microsoft Office, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • Highly effective multi-tasker; resourceful with a “get-it-done, can-do” attitude.
  • Must practice safe work methods and comply with wearing and using the proper PPE 100% of the time on the floor and always work in a safe manner.
  • All production roles are required to pass a pre-employment physical exam to comply with their specific role requirement(s)
  • Certain roles may require the use of a respirator and passing the associated fit test
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs, sometimes repeatedly
  • Regular walking and standing for long periods of time (up to 11 hours a day) on concrete, metal and grated surfaces
  • Responsibilities may require crouching, stepping over, crawling under, bending, twisting, climbing and reaching above head and shoulders repeatedly throughout the day
  • Responsibilities may require climbing flights of stairs, working from heights or on elevated platforms
  • Ability to wear assigned PPE (safety shoes, gloves, facemask, hearing protection and hard hat)
  • Established dexterity so you can handle materials, operate equipment and interface with computer systems with precision
  • Some roles (e.g., forklift operator) may be required to sit for a prolonged period of time and have strong peripheral vision and depth perception
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs repetitively throughout the shift.
  • Fill in as needed to ensure Supervisory coverage. May require on-call, 12 hour days, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to work assigned shifts as needed.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to endure on a daily basis, walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, and crouching.
