About Us
Founded in the Queensland outback in 1920, Qantas has grown to be Australia’s largest regional, domestic, and international airline. Qantas has a range of subsidiary businesses that support the overall operations of the Group. The Qantas Group’s main business is the transportation of customers and freight using two complementary airline brands — Qantas and Jetstar — operating regional, domestic, and international services.
Today, we’re busy planning for tomorrow. We look to the future to guide the way we innovate, helping us stay relevant and responsive in an unpredictable industry. Taking ownership is critical. Whether we’re working individually or as a group, we challenge ourselves to make progress and deliver results.
The Group Finance Manager is expected to take on areas of deeper accounting judgments, estimates and complexity. The Group Finance Manager is expected to support and work with the Technical Accounting Manager in providing accounting advice and research with a strong focus on complex and unusual accounting issues. As this role sits within Group External Reporting and Advice, there is strong need to liaise with segment finance teams and business partners.
The Group Finance Manager will prepare technical accounting papers and be involved in key projects, providing sound accounting judgement, estimates and advice. This role also has a focus on reviewing contracts as part of the internal contract review process, in order to identify any accounting risks and provide accounting sign-off.
In addition, the Group Finance Manager will support the Group External Reporting Manager at half-year and year-end, to ensure timely and accurate Statutory reporting. This includes taking on more complex accounting notes and disclosures, liaising with external auditors and subsidiary accounts reviews.
