Position: Mechanical Engineer (1st Shift)

Location: Ashland, VA

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (CTH)

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Onsite)

Pay Range: $35-$40/hr. (Depending on Experience)


Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team on the 1st shift. This role offers the opportunity to transition into a Project Engineer position after gaining experience and knowledge in the crane industry. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of mechanical engineering experience, with a strong background in SolidWorks design.



Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop overhead cranes, hoists, and structural components using SolidWorks.
  • Create detailed CAD models, drawings, and BOMs for fabrication and assembly.
  • Review and approve mechanical components before procurement.
  • Provide engineering support for estimating, sales, and production teams.
  • Conduct structural and mechanical analysis to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Oversee project management tasks, including timelines, budgets, and coordination.
  • Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing and installation issues.
  • Ensure quality control and compliance with safety and engineering regulations.
  • Collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal teams to optimize designs.
  • Perform other engineering duties as needed.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in material handling or structural applications.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling, drawings, and assemblies).
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, structural analysis, and machining techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, industry codes, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, FEA software, or PDM systems is a plus.
