Quality Assurance Engineer

JOB SUMMARY: Belle Tire is looking for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer with a passion for innovation and quality. As a member of our IT department, the Software Quality Assurance Engineer will work closely with Software Engineers to understand the technical design of applications and ensure testability of the developed components.

The role will require you to continuously design creative ways to break software and identify potential bugs. You will build test automation with the goal of providing maximum coverage in the most efficient manner. Ensuring that the test infrastructure is easily maintainable and can scale to the demands of a rapid continuous integration continuous deployment environment.

• Assess the software quality through system testing process including functionality testing, performance testing, and UX testing
• Ability to define testing scope for the applications and web products
• Ability to test responsive design on multiple browsers and mobile devices
• Create and evaluate Test Plans to ensure all scenarios accounted for across teams
• Comfort with debugging, investigation, and root-cause analysis of backend and frontend issues
• Should be able to do both functional and Automation within testing process
• Write backend integration tests and tests for RESTful APIs
• Able to identify potential failure points and UI mismatches
• Implement and execute test strategies on all supported platforms and languages to help improve overall quality and test code coverage
• Design and develop integration, regression, and stress tests using industry standard tools
• Collaborate with Engineers and Product Owner to understand requirements and translate them into test cases
• Working end-to-end from feature discussion to making test cases to final sign-off
• Review our current process, identify opportunities for process improvements and advocate for changes which ensure quality in our development process

Basic Qualifications:

• 2-5 years of hands-on experience with a preparing test cases
• 2-5 years of web testing workflow experience
• Experience with defect tracking systems such as JIRA
• A strong understanding of testing and the ability to mentor engineers on what needs to be automated
• Passionate about continuous improvement of our technology stack and service
• Proficient at understanding and explaining technical issues and their implications for projects and business decisions, facilitating discussion and resolution of problems
• Good record keeping and written communication skills with an attention to detail
• Working knowledge of test methodologies, processes, and tools
• Knowledge of relational databases/SQL
• Familiarity with common mobile devices and browsers/mobile/web domain knowledge, such as RESTful, Cookies, Session, SSL, JSON, etc..
• A desire to work collaboratively with engineers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, designers and effectively communicate software bugs and other opportunities with team members
• Experienced in interacting and coordinating test activities among multiple teams

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work hours are typically 8-5, Mon-Fri, some overtime may be required. Office environment requiring long periods of sitting operation of standard office equipment. Requires minimal travel to Belle Tires store locations. Some lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, twisting, grabbing, and reaching.
