Role:

The Academic Advisor and Program Administrator will provide student advising and support to students enrolled in the Quantic School of Business and Technology and Valar Institute. This may include degree-seeking and Executive Education certificate students enrolled in programs focusing on business and technical subject areas. This position is a key contact point for both degree-seeking and certificate students and requires exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and a passion for student success. 

Additionally, this position will manage the daily operations of a specialized certificate program, the Valar Leadership Accelerator (VLA). VLA is a management skill and leadership development certificate program for aspiring leaders and early-career managers. This position will be responsible for administering the VLA program, including cohort management, participant support, progress tracking, and communication with sponsors to ensure a seamless and impactful learning experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

Academic Advising

  • Advise degree-seeking and Executive Education Certificate students on study skill improvement, time management, and program requirements for graduation.
  • Track metrics related to student progress and develop new interventions to improve degree and certificate student retention and graduation rates.
  • Identify and conduct initial outreach to students who have fallen behind academically.
  • Provide counsel to students on academic probation and suspension.
  • Develop individualized success plans for students and follow up with students regularly.
  • Engage with departmental and organizational initiatives to track and conduct outreach to at-risk students.
  • Create and conduct presentations to students regarding program requirements, expectations, study skills, and techniques during new student orientation.
  • Provide workshops to students on relevant advising topics upon registration and throughout the program.

VLA Program Management

  • Coordinate all aspects of the Valar Leadership Accelerator (VLA), including administrative and account setup, scheduling, and workshop and orientation logistics.
  • Track participant progress weekly, generating reports and targeted communications for students and sponsors, including tailored outreach to students based on academic performance.
  • Manage certification and completion processes, issuing credentials, updating sponsors, and compiling engagement and survey data to drive continuous program improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of academic counseling experience in postsecondary education;
  • Bachelor’s or equivalent in Communications, Social Work, or related field;
  • Excellent listening and communication (both oral and written) skills, especially in situations requiring sensitivity and empathy;
  • Self-directed and detail oriented, with an aptitude for creative problem solving;
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, track progress, and coordinate tasks across multiple programs;
  • Proficient with Google Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of academic advising experience for a post-graduate program;
  • Prior experience supporting students enrolled in business and technical programs;
  • Master’s or equivalent in Higher Education, Social Work, Business, technical or related fields;
  • Knowledge of best practices for tracking student metrics;
  • Experience working with international students;
  • Experience facilitating virtual sessions such as program orientations or workshops;
  • Proficiency with customer relationship management tools, such as HelpScout;
  • Proficiency with data tracking and reporting tools, such as Airtable
