Are you looking for a role in Building Information Modelling (BIM), supporting our Rail and Infrastructure Buildings projects?  Do you have an excellent track record in project delivery 3D modelling using Bentley products and Microstation OBD?  Do you have the strategic mindset that can help identify and shape our future modelling deliverables?

Your new role

As our new Open Buildings Designer Technician, you will be part of a highly dynamic, 550-strong, multi-disciplinary buildings practice contributing to and leading the modelling for some of the industry’s most innovative and sustainable building projects across the UK.  You will play a vital role in shaping project success through effective modelling, coordination, and mentorship, promoting and encouraging collaboration between the Engineering teams and our external collaborators, to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and with the highest quality standards..

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Oversee the production and coordination of BIM models primarily relating to Rail and Infrastructure Buildings projects, using Microstation OBD.
  • Contribute to improving BIM practices utilising the latest digital techniques, helping the Team keeps pace with and strive to improve on current industry standards
  • Assist the Principal Technician in developing a digital strategy with short, medium and long term targets

Your new team

You will be part of Buildings Structural Engineering Team based in one of our UK offices.  You will work on a variety of projects with our engineering teams nationally and with the opportunity to work on both national and international projects. We work closely with our Transport Market colleagues and there will be opportunity to work on major infrastructure projects.  You will join one of our 7 structural teams to suit your location, Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Chester, London, Manchester, Southampton.  There will be opportunity to work in a hybrid office / home location.

  • Bentley Microstation and OBD proficient
  • Experience of working in a collaborative, federated BIM environment using clash detection software as necessary
  • Experience of Network Rail or Transport for London CAD and BIM standards would be beneficial
  • Be prepared to challenge yourself to develop a high degree of technical competence with demonstrable appreciation of sustainable design
  • Be able to think outside the box in order to identify improved procedures, protocols and methods in order to improve our modelling contract deliverables
