Brief Description:

Join our award-winning Dermatology practice as a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant. We are seeking a compassionate and empathetic individual to provide essential support to our team of healthcare professionals, particularly in caring for our elderly patient population. Work closely with two physicians in a dynamic environment dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.


Job Description

The primary focus of the Medical Assistant is to provide excellent patient care and always protect patient and employee confidentiality.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides a warm greeting to all patients, check-in patients through the clinic’s system, distributes and verifies patient demographics, and collects the patient’s co-pay and ensure payment is properly logged for billing.
  • Support administrative staff with intake and patient check-in/out
  • Perform routine clinical tasks, such as taking vitals and medical history, to support medical staff
  • Give follow-up instructions, health education and materials to patients as instructed by clinician
  • Communicate with insurance companies for proper billing procedures and prescription authorizations
  • Manage clinical inventory and orders
  • Give follow-up instructions, health education and materials to patients as instructed by clinician
  • Maintain electronic patient records and charges to ensure completeness and accuracy of information
  • Complete appropriate electronic forms as required for the patient’s medical treatment
  • Review, perform and schedule preventable health maintenance per schedule
  • Support the vision, mission and goals, and demonstrate a commitment to the values, of the organization
  • Perform other duties as directed


Qualifications


  • Medical knowledge or experience is required.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate or CPR Certification preferred.

  • Thorough and organized with patient care and file maintenance.

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5 pm

  • Health Insurance, 80% of health insurance paid after probationary period

Location:

  • UTC area of La Jolla

Hourly Pay Range:

  • $23 - $24
