Title: Recipe Editor

HelloFresh is in search of an organized and detail-oriented Recipe Editor to join our growing Editorial Team. The ideal candidate should have excellent grammar, recipe editing, food writing, and proofreading skills. We are a fast-moving team with a focus on producing precise, engaging, educational content.

The Recipe Editor, reporting to the Senior Recipe Editor, is responsible for a broad range of tasks and responsibilities, which typically span multiple positions within the editorial structure of a more traditional publication team. Editors are continuously collaborating with the culinary team, nutrition team, photo team, product operations team, menu planning team, project managers, editors, proofreaders, and production designers to produce over 100 recipe cards and meal stories every week across our HelloFresh, EveryPlate, Green Chef, and Factor brands.

The ideal candidate should have an intimate understanding of culinary arts as it relates to recipe writing and food media, with the ability to meet tight deadlines while also maintaining great flexibility when necessary. You enjoy collaborating with co-workers across multiple departments, and know how to facilitate a constant stream of communication. More than anything else, you understand that HelloFresh recipes are the most important connection we have with our consumers, and a successful recipe ensures a truly successful customer experience.

You will...

  • Collaborate with other Recipe Editors on the team to produce over 100 recipe cards every week and contribute editorial web support across our HelloFresh, EveryPlate, Green Chef, and Factor brands, aligning to a stringent recipe style for each recipe brand through pre-determined, culinary-approved guidelines
  • Content edit and review ~25 recipes per week at various editorial checkpoints, ensuring clarity, consistency, and accuracy among recipes. This includes:
    • Formatting recipe documents to ensure they're compatible with DocsFlow
    • Completing a style edit to ensure a consistent voice and style throughout every recipe
    • Editing recipes for flow
    • Fact-checking instructions for accuracy
    • Collaborating with the culinary team to make any necessary culinary- or editorial-driven changes to the recipes
    • Reviewing recipe titles, descriptions, ingredient names, and instructions to ensure they align with brand-specific tone and style guidelines
  • Copywriting to include:
    • Writing recipe card and web descriptions
    • Creating recipe titles and subtitles
  • Meet deadlines across all projects and tasks
  • Ensure quality control of recipe cards, to include photography, ingredients, steps, and requested changes are accounted for
  • Contribute to editorial efforts on specialty projects
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new team members

You have...

  • 3-5 years experience in recipe editing, writing, and content creation–a background in food media is a plus and a culinary degree is an added bonus
  • A Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or a Communications-related field
  • A passion for the culinary world, with a vast knowledge of techniques and ingredients—you find yourself reading cookbooks in your spare time and scouring social media for the latest culinary trends
  • An impeccable eye for detail and nuance
  • A knack for figuring out how to explain the most advanced of culinary methods to novice home cooks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs and project management software
  • Skilled in copy editing, proofreading, AP style, and ensuring adherence to style guides
  • Experience assessing photography for culinary accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Superb organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and timelines at once

Colorado Pay Range
