About the role
headspace Schools & Communities, works to reduce the rates of youth suicide and improve mental health outcomes among Australian secondary school students and their community. This newly created role within the NSW Flood Support Program holds a strong focus on building the mental health literacy and capacity of communities in NSW.
An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified professional with experience in leading a team. This newly created role complements the broader headspace Schools & Communities programs and holds a strong focus on all age, all stage prevention, detection and response to risk and vulnerability in NSW regions impacted by floods. The NSW Flood Support Program provides experienced resources across NSW to support the coordination of local and national agencies to implement a collective impact collaboration model, working alongside Local Health Districts, Primary Health Networks, and existing key local agencies including local councils.
Under the direction and leadership of the headspace Schools & Communities Program Manager, this exciting and diverse position will assist in identifying and engaging with stakeholders, assist in developing content required for resource packages, and coordinating and supporting stakeholders to build capacity through evidence based strategies for community disaster and recovery.
This is a time limited funded program. This is a long-term contract until 30 June 2024, in line with our funding term.
Who we're looking for
headspace is seeking someone with a tertiary qualification in education, public health promotion, community development and/or mental health, or equivalent combination of relevant training. Your demonstrated leadership experience will allow you to effectively manage and support a team of consultants to influence change and work in collaborative partnerships with school leadership teams, education authorities, local community agencies and other stakeholders.
