Digital Designer | The Points Guy

The Points Guy is the leading expert in award travel with a passion for helping users travel the world using points and miles. Through our website, app and social channels, we give hands-on advice that helps readers maximize their credit cards, loyalty programs and travel experiences. 

We are seeking a full-time Digital Designer to help develop impactful experiences for our card acquisition team, working to create experiences that help customers learn about and apply for new credit cards. As a key member of our creative team, you'll play a crucial role in creating exceptional digital solutions that improve share of voice and drive revenue. Our team is a highly-collaborative, creative and close-knit group. We thrive off of giving and receiving feedback, solving complex problems, and developing engaging user experiences, while meeting the needs of the business. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Understand business goals, develop subject-matter expertise and solve complex problems while working with product teams to plan and build iterative solutions
  • Effectively balance user needs and business goals
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving techniques to tackle product challenges, identify user pain-points and make recommendations to drive end goals
  • Create and execute detailed wireframes for both desktop and mobile platforms
  • Prototype designs and interactions to clearly articulate your design intentions
  • Turn wireframes into high fidelity prototypes
  • Work with research to build prototypes to validate your designs, then iterate and innovate based on data and findings
  • Present and share work with cross-functional teams to clearly communicate design rationale and the importance to end users
  • Engage with the engineering team to understand API calls and technical restrictions, and partner to build solutions through handoff and qa
  • Think systematically to optimize UX/UI patterns for ease of use following design system guidelines
  • Assist and support teammates through collaboration, critique and feedback
  • Be autonomous, crave accountability and take responsibility for every detail, every step of the way

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3+ years designing consumer-focused tech across various platforms (web, mobile, apps, etc) 
  • You have a killer portfolio that demonstrates a highly-polished visual design sense, a clean command over interaction design, typography and usability
  • You’re fluent in Figma, prototyping, and working with design systems
  • You’re a strong communicator and collaborator who is inspired to deliver great work and bring a strategy to life
  • You are always looking to grow your abilities through feedback and collaboration
  • You are proactive with strong time-management skills, taking initiative for what needs to be done rather than waiting for instructions
  • You enjoy staying flexible and adaptable in a fast-changing environment
  • You deftly juggle multiple projects, setting stakeholder expectations, working individually and collaboratively across teams 
  • You love what you do, try to have fun every day and have a great sense of humor

Nice to haves:

  • Have some level of points and miles expertise, love travel, understand credit cards and loyalty programs
  • Have animation and branding experience
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices
  • Experience with usability testing platforms like usertesting.com

Compensation

  • Cash Compensation Range: $90,000-$110,000*
    *Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
