Writer I, Energy

Red Ventures is seeking a Writer for the Energy team. As a seasoned creative, this individual will produce comprehensive, timely and highly relevant content for three online energy marketplaces. The writer will help identify content opportunities that have the potential to demonstrate a business impact on traffic, backlinks and/or brand mentions while adhering to editorial standards and brand guidelines. The writer will also collaborate with editors, SEO analysts and other marketing functions to produce various content as needed.

What You’ll Do:

• Produce high-quality, well-researched editorial content
• Update existing content for timeliness and accuracy 
• Develop/produce original ideas for fresh content in collaboration with SEO 
• Follow AP style as well as internal brand voice and tone guidelines
• Check story drafts for errors, typos and linking opportunities
• Use Asana, Google Sheets, Google Search Console and our Content Management Systems as part of our editorial workflow for tracking and production
• Understand and explain complex concepts in a digestible and user-friendly way to a digital audience
• Stay up to date on industry news and trends to identify, pitch and write content opportunities that have a business impact and inform consumers

What We’re Looking For:

• 2+ years of writing experience
• Detail-oriented with the ability to juggle multiple projects while responding to feedback
• Knowledge of the Energy industry, or other technical fields (e.g. finance, healthcare, etc.) 
• Passion for content creation and a track record of coming up with innovative approaches to complicated topics
• Familiarity and experience with SEO best practices, including YMYL content and EEAT signals
• An innovative thinker and writer with journalistic rigor who regularly pitches new ideas and content types
• Receptiveness to ongoing feedback and coaching
• Understanding of AP Style and ability to grasp various new styles and tones
• Ability to collaborate with editors, SEO team members, and publishers, as needed in a remote team setting
• A portfolio of writing samples that showcase attention to detail and accuracy
