The Risk Management Specialist II will serve as support in the implementation, promotion, and facilitation of enterprise risk management (ERM) activities for RCU, and as the authority in areas relating to ERM. This individual will perform risk and control assessments and work with various team members to identify risk exposure and mitigation options within various business processes and products while ensuring risk appetite is consistent with RCU policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.


Essential Functions
  • Facilitate risk and control assessments in partnership with business areas.
  • Vendor Management – Work with Business Continuity Planning (BCP) & Vendor Management Specialist and vendor owners to create and maintain vendor data and assessments, including working within vendor management system.
  • Communicate opportunities to management to improve risk awareness within the organization.
  • Work with Audit Manager and SVP/Enterprise Risk to execute ERM plan.
  • Create and update organization’s risk register.
  • Apply expertise in IRM (Integrated Risk Management) system to act as resource and train business line stakeholders, answer questions, and maximize the functionality of ERM.
  • General IRM system maintenance and programming.
  • Communicate directly with IRM vendor to improve overall experience, e.g., user experience, functionality, content.
  • Contribute to the development of risk management KPIs and KRIs.
  • Advise Audit Manager and SVP/Enterprise Risk on applicable, informative risk-reporting for Executives, Board, Audit and Enterprise Risk Committee, and Risk Oversight Committee.
  • Participate in projects to provide a risk-focused perspective.
  • In partnership with Risk Management departments, provide support on exams, audits, and other tasks as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Practical experience of risk management core principles.
  • Experience in establishing an ERM program, risk and control frameworks, and risk reporting to management.
  • Proven experience in implementing or enhancing risk management functions and culture within a financial institution.
  • Proven experience creating and/or using data to identify risk trends and make risk-based decisions or recommendations.
  • Adept in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people, including vendors.
  • Ability to work independently and identify when additional resources are needed.
  • Ability to distinguish and process confidential material and information with discretion.


Education and Experience
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, plus a minimum of five years’ experience working in a financial institution within audit and/or risk management, with knowledge and experience of ERM best practices.


Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform physical job requirements, including ability to move objects of up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Ability to work sedentary that primarily involves sitting/standing.


$42.76 - $53.10 an hour
Compensation: Base starting range: $42.76 to $53.10 per hour commensurate with experience.
Our base salary starting range is based on scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity.
