Modeling & Simulation Intern

REGENT is building the seaglider; the first electric flying machine that will transport commercial passengers.  With a vehicle that never flies higher than a few meters off the water, we unlock the ability to fly twice as far as an electric aircraft, and certification by maritime authorities which will let us fly first passengers by mid-decade.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Modeling and simulation Intern to join our team and develop simulation environments for a seaglider that floats, hydrofoils, and flies in ground effect over water. This internship offers hands-on experience in building and refining simulation models using MATLAB/Simulink. The ideal candidate will have a passion for software engineering and a basic understanding of modeling and simulation concepts.

• Assist in the design, build, and maintenance of simulation environments that support multiple engineers and subsystem integrations
• Implement and modify simulation models using MATLAB/Simulink under the guidance of senior engineers
• Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to help integrate physical system and vehicle dynamics data into the simulation environment
• Support software in the loop, processor in the loop, and hardware in the loop testing for model validation
• Assist in analyzing sea trial test data and refining simulation models to improve accuracy and reliability

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
• Basic knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink and an interest in learning more about modeling and simulation
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to work independently and within a team
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with engineers from different disciplines and a desire to learn about physical system dynamics
• Familiarity with software in the loop, processor in the loop, or hardware in the loop testing is a plus but not required
• Passion for simulation technologies and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment
