Job Overview:
As a Regional Facilities Training Manager, you lead the learning and development opportunities to build the skillset of our Facilities team around the primary repair needs in multifamily communities. By working closely with Facilities associates, you will make a direct impact and contribution to helping them develop highly efficient repairs and community standards to ensure resident happiness.

This role is a focused approach to continually enhance the skillset of the Facilities team to help each associate grow while you also help our Community and Regional leaders execute the business initiatives. Your focus will be to enable high performance of our Facilities teams’ skills while you partner with Talent, Facilities, and Operational leaders through implementation and facilitation of hands-on classes and monitoring of programs. Here are the roles you will play:
Roles You Will Play:

The Maintenance Expert

  • Your expertise in repairing anything is amazing because you know how to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliance, structural, lighting, gate maintenance, and even security systems)
  • You understand maintenance repairs so well that you can anticipate problems that residents might have before they even occur
  • You demonstrate the ability to look past the simple repair and identify root causes through diagnosis and teach others how to diagnose
The Educator
  • Provide highly engaging learning experiences that build upon the repair skill needs while aligning with Cortland’s culture and focus of facilities excellence
  • Deliver high-quality training across multiple channels to engage audiences and promote positive performance
  • Work well with and collaborate across multiple departmental channels of Talent, Facilities, and Operations to train and coach service teams.
  • The liaison between Talent and other departments to promote communication and reduce silos
  • Work closely with our Learning Experience Design team on building out content as a subject-matter expert and design assistant
  • Manage the course completions in your market and promote course completions
  • Work with vendors and build relationships to counterbalance what they provide in your market for training resources
  • Help our Facilities and Service Teams become knowledgeable and comfortable in our policies, standards, and approach to how we operate to achieve outstanding KPI’s and resident experience results
The People Person
  • Ensure associates are well-versed in Cortland’s Standards of Excellence and provide training guidance inherent in our Core Values and SOE’s
  • Collaborate with teams to maintain organizational communications associated with training and partner with regional leaders to build a culture of service performance excellence
  • Continually research energy-saving and sustainability opportunitiesGather information from the field to develop future training

Building Blocks of Success:
  • Current EPA and CPO certifications
  • Current EPA and CPO proctor certifications a plus
  • Solid record of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, and other community-related repairs
  • Ability to reach out, communicate, and coordinate training with local vendors
  • Impeccable record-keeping and reporting skills
  • Physical agility and mobility
  • Resourceful problem solver
  • Experience in coaching and developing facilities and service employees
  • Ability to travel through a local market and host training at different communities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to facilitate training in small and large groups
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with Cortland associates at all roles and levels in the organization
  • Spanish fluency a plus
