Regional Project Director, Asia Pacific /How will YOU create impact here at USP?

USP is seeking a Regional Project Director for the anticipated Regional Health Partnerships for the Pacific and Southeast Asia project funded by the Australia Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The Regional Project Director will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of a $9 million, 4-year program to strengthen pharmaceutical regulatory systems, ultimately increasing access to high-quality medical products in the Pacific and Southeast Asia region. The program will work on strengthening national control laboratories and post-market regulatory systems, including pharmacovigilance and lot release for vaccines in Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, and Papua New Guinea. The Regional Project Director will be based in one of these project countries (Indonesia preferred).

The Regional Project Director will serve as the primary contact for the donor (DFAT) and key stakeholders, managing the program’s most important relationships. They will also have oversight of technical, financial, and operational staff implementing the program, providing staff leadership and guidance needed for successful program implementation. This will include providing a cohesive technical vision for the program, strong financial management oversight, identifying implementation risks and mitigation strategies, and communicating closely with headquarters staff on program progress. The Regional Project Director is expected to travel to countries as needed to oversee technical assistance and troubleshoot alongside project staff.

Who USP is Looking For?

This role requires:

A Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field of study, such as public health, pharmacist, public policy, or business administration.

At least 10 years of professional technical experience related to the successful implementation of global health programs in low- and middle-income countries within the Pacific and/or Southeast Asia.

At least 5 years of experience leading similarly sized donor-funded programs with skills in strategic planning, management, supervision, and budgeting; DFAT experience preferred.

Location within Indonesia (or another project country) with regular travel to Cambodia, Laos, and PNG.
