The AWS Infrastructure organization manages the data center facilities and equipment that power Amazon Web Services. We are looking for a Regional Security Manager for our private cloud infrastructure in the US. We need someone with experience managing security of large critical installations, ideally data centers; with professional experience managing people with varying skill sets; and who can set strategy, manage budgets, lead projects, and drive improvements in our security practices and operations. What you’ll do: You’ll lead a team of US Government cleared security experts and local contract security officers, who manage the day-to-day security of our datacenters. You’ll be responsible for working with our US Government customers and Amazon teams to develop new processes, deploy new technology, and continuously improve security of our operations. You’ll be responsible for developing, tacking, and driving our key security metrics, including program reviews and testing our security controls. You’ll oversee the work of cleared and uncleared vendors, contractors, and Amazon employees, to ensure our customers’ stringent security requirements are met. As a leader in private cloud data center security, you will engage with senior leadership across AWS and our customers, including writing and presenting documents on your ideas, operational procedures, and results. You’ll have ownership, not just responsibility, as you deliver security, productivity, and savings for AWS. This position can sit in Denver, CO, Herndon, VA or San Antonio, TX. The base pay range for this position in Colorado is $182,600 - 247,000; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Sign-on payments, clearance bonus, and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph and satisfy other security related requirements. Key job responsibilities This role requires the ability to adapt to a changing operational environment, driven by changing customer requirements, build schedule changes, security vendor commitments, and evolving security threats. The incumbent must be able to work at pace and adjusting priorities, while relying on established knowledge and experience in the classified security space. Must have the ability to interact with demanding customers and meet short notice customer driven deadlines.. A day in the life The incumbent ensures the security team is set up for success by promulgating clear guidance and direction, providing proper resources, and supporting employee career development. Additionally, the role requires continuous coordination with team stakeholders in Operations, HR, Logistics, Design and Engineering, and Construction, to ensure security services are synchronized with other business process. The role requires a strong commitment to hiring in order to find the right candidate for demanding roles, while coping with a tight labor market. About the team The team is made up of security professionals with a cross section of national security and private sector experience, providing a range of perspectives required for creative problem solving.   • Demonstrated track record of growth and increasing responsibility including senior leadership positions that require maturity, judgment, negotiation, analytics, and influence skills.
  • Deep expertise in physical security systems to include facility security installations, surveillance systems, and electronic access control systems.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written, including long-form business writing on complex topics
  • Proven ability to not only influence but lead business partners and supporting teams
  • Ability to manage globally distributed 24x7 operations to include short-notice travel in response to emerging operational issues
  • Knowledge of ICD (Intelligence Community Directive) and NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) standards
  • An entrepreneurial spirit; a passion to improve at every opportunity
  • Ability to able to credibly coordinate between technical teams and business stakeholders
  • Ideal candidate will have an intermediate or better level of knowledge of a variety of government security programs in multiple fields (personnel security, program security, physical security, and education, awareness, and training)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $164,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $271,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
