Registrar

Denison University seeks a visionary and strategic leader who is responsible for directing and developing a future-oriented and data focused Registrar’s Office with the capacity to guide central academic and student information operations and strategy. The Registrar leads the development, implementation, assessment and adaptation of registration planning initiatives, policies, procedures, and information management systems, which foster and support the academic mission of the College. This student-facing position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of Denison while serving as a trusted resource for students, faculty, and administration across campus.

Essential Job Functions
Visionary and Strategic Leadership
  • Support Denison’s academic mission in partnership with students, faculty, and staff by supporting modern, flexible self-service tools,
maintaining accurate records, and deploying innovative technologies.
  • Centering the student experience, continually improving the effectiveness and quality of services provided, and delivering a highquality
experience for all students.

Student Records Management
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including registration information, grades, transcripts, and academic histories.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, legal requirements regarding student data privacy, and institutional policies.

Academic Planning and Scheduling
  • Collaborate with academic departments and faculty to develop the annual class schedule, coordinate course offerings, and
optimize resource allocation.
  • Ensure the schedule meets the needs of students, balances course availability, and supports timely degree completion.

Academic Policies and Compliance
  • Enforce institutional policies related to academic matters, such as degree requirements, course prerequisites, and academic
standards.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration to develop and revise academic policies to align with best practices and institutional
goals.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to academic processes.

Graduation and Degree Audit
  • Oversee the graduation process, ensuring students meet all requirements for degree completion.
  • Conduct degree audits to verify students’ progress towards graduation and certify their eligibility to graduate.
  • Participate in planning commencement ceremonies; responsible for accurate awarding of diplomas.

Course Registration
  • Manage a seamless registration process for enrolled and incoming students, ensuring accurate and efficient course selection and
enrollment.
  • Provide support and guidance to students throughout the registration process.

Student Support
  • Counsel students on academic matters and partner with the Director of Advising and Academic Resource Center on initiatives related to support of student academic engagement.

Enrollment Management
  • Collaborate with the Division of Enrollment Management on matters related to enrollment targets, enrollment trends, transfer credit
evaluations, and the development of strategies to attract and retain students.
  • Oversee academic petition process and identify trends related to incompletes and petitions for exceptions.
  • Provide support and guidance to students throughout the admission and enrollment process.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A master’s degree (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Strategic view of the future of higher education and a commitment to supporting the Denison community by collaborating, innovating, problem- solving, and building trust.
  • A solid understanding of academic policies and procedures in higher education, with specific knowledge of liberal arts education preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing student records, registration, and enrollment processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and provide strategic insights.
  • Proficiency in using student information systems and related technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and build partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, including FERPA and accreditation standards.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
