Responsible for the organization and coordination of the ER Registration Area, ensuring that adequate staffing is available 24/7. Leads and oversees the day to day operations and ensures that quality services and documentation are provided. Works closely with Staff, Physicians and Patients to ensure optimal customer and employee coordination satisfaction. Motivates, promotes, follows and encourages the Bon Secours Mission and Values.

Assists the Director in the development of Patient Access Services policies and procedures

Possesses strong oral and written communication skills that are clear and concise in a variety of setting and styles to convey information not only to employees but also upper management.

Ensures quality auditing of work on all Patient Access personnel to include collection of demographic data, point of service collections and accurate insurance coding on a weekly basis.

Responsible for supervision of ED staff engaged in patient registration activities and assures proper staffing according to daily operations to handle patient flow effectively.

Evaluates employee's job performance and provides guidance through employee competence reviews and counseling in accordance with Human Resource Policy.

Prepare and conduct Performance Improvement Plans.

Conduct initial interviews for the purposes of selecting qualified candidates.

Maintains personnel records

Maintains the most current and updated knowledge of system applications, insurance plans and protocols, coding requirements and departmental policies and procedures. Relays current changes/updates of this information to all Patient Access personnel.

Responsible for ordering department supplies while monitoring departmental expenses.

Responsible for timely and correct statistical reporting to Director and facility.

Ensures quality control of Patient Access database, and administers a QA process, reporting monthly to Director. Maintains accurate calculation in preparing reports.

Provides a comprehensive training/orientation program to ensure compliance of policies and procedures through coaching, counseling and feedback.

Allows motivated employees to grow, influences staff, and leads by example, including assisting professional growth opportunities.
Employment Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent with at least two years of Patient Access or medical experience

Above average communication skills including comprehension, written and mathematical

Develops and comprehends the basis of policies and procedures

Ability to identify analyze priorities and solve problems

Must have demonstrated expertise in insurance, managed care and federal/ state coverage.

Professional demeanor both in dress and actions

Efficient keyboarding and computer skills

Outstanding customer service. Must have worked one year with the public

Must be able to work under stress using tact and diplomacy.

Must demonstrate the ability to work independently, problem solve and be able to resolve conflict.
